³ And his delight shall be in the fear of Jehovah; and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither decide after the hearing of his ears;

⁷ But Jehovah said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him: for [Jehovah seeth] not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but Jehovah looketh on the heart.

¹⁷ Then thy handmaid said, Let, I pray thee, the word of my lord the king be comfortable; for as an angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and bad: and Jehovah thy God be with thee.

⁹ Give thy servant therefore an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this thy great people?

²⁸ And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do justice.

¹¹ Doth not the ear try words,
Even as the palate tasteth its food?

³ For the ear trieth words,
As the palate tasteth food.

⁵ Then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah,
And find the knowledge of God.

⁹ Then shalt thou understand righteousness and justice,
And equity, [yea], every good path.

⁶ And there shall be stability in thy times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge: the fear of Jehovah is thy treasure.

⁵² And Jesus advanced in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

²⁵ and because he needed not that any one should bear witness concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.

²⁴ Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment.}

¹⁵ Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man. ¹⁶ Yea and if I judge, my judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.

¹³ Which things also we speak, not in words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Spirit teacheth; combining spiritual things with spiritual [words]. ¹⁴ Now the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; and he cannot know them, because they are spiritually judged. ¹⁵ But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, and he himself is judged of no man.

³ But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. ⁴ For I know nothing against myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. ⁵ Wherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each man have his praise from God.

⁹ And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment; ¹⁰ so that ye may approve the things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and void of offence unto the day of Christ;

¹⁴ But solid food is for fullgrown men, [even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil.
