² Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth;
For thy love is better than wine. ³ Thine oils have a goodly fragrance;
Thy name is [as] oil poured forth;
Therefore do the virgins love thee. ⁴ Draw me; we will run after thee:
The king hath brought me into his chambers;
We will be glad and rejoice in thee;
We will make mention of thy love more than of wine:
Rightly do they love thee.
⁵ I am black, but comely,
Oh ye daughters of Jerusalem,
As the tents of Kedar,
As the curtains of Solomon. ⁶ Look not upon me, because I am swarthy,
Because the sun hath scorched me.
My mother's sons were incensed against me;
They made me keeper of the vineyards;
[But] mine own vineyard have I not kept. ⁷ Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth,
Where thou feedest [thy flock],
Where thou makest [it] to rest at noon:
For why should I be as one that is veiled
Beside the flocks of thy companions?
⁸ If thou know not, O thou fairest among women,
Go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock,
And feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents.
⁹ I have compared thee, O my love,
To a steed in Pharaoh's chariots. ¹⁰ Thy cheeks are comely with plaits [of hair],
Thy neck with strings of jewels. ¹¹ We will make thee plaits of gold
With studs of silver.
¹² While the king sat at his table,
My spikenard sent forth its fragrance. ¹³ My beloved is unto me [as] a bundle of myrrh,
That lieth betwixt my breasts. ¹⁴ My beloved is unto me [as] a cluster of henna-flowers
In the vineyards of En-gedi. ¹⁵ Behold, thou art fair, my love;
Behold thou art fair;
Thine eyes are [as] doves. ¹⁶ Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant:
Also our couch is green. ¹⁷ The beams of our house are cedars,
[And] our rafters are firs.

³² And he spake three thousand proverbs; and his songs were a thousand and five.

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.
They are corrupt, they have done abominable works;
There is none that doeth good.

¹ Let me sing for my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved had a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:

²⁶ And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son. ²⁷ And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said,
See, the smell of my son
Is as the smell of a field which Jehovah hath blessed:

¹¹ And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.

¹⁵ And he kissed all his brethren, and wept upon them: and after that his brethren talked with him.

¹² Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way,
For his wrath will soon be kindled.
Blessed are all they that take refuge in him.

⁷ How precious is thy lovingkindness, O God!
And the children of men take refuge under the shadow of thy wings.

³ Because thy lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise thee. ⁴ So will I bless thee while I live:
I will lift up my hands in thy name. ⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness;
And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips;

⁴ Draw me; we will run after thee:
The king hath brought me into his chambers;
We will be glad and rejoice in thee;
We will make mention of thy love more than of wine:
Rightly do they love thee.

⁴ He brought me to the banqueting-house,
And his banner over me was love.

¹⁰ How fair is thy love, my sister, [my] bride!
How much better is thy love than wine!
And the fragrance of thine oils than all manner of spices!

¹⁶ His mouth is most sweet;
Yea, he is altogether lovely.
This is my beloved, and this is my friend,
O daughters of Jerusalem.

⁶ How fair and how pleasant art thou,
O love, for delights!

⁹ And thy mouth like the best wine,
That goeth down smoothly for my beloved,
Gliding through the lips of those that are asleep.

¹² Let us get up early to the vineyards;
Let us see whether the vine hath budded,
[And] its blossom is open,
[And] the pomegranates are in flower:
There will I give thee my love.

¹ Oh that thou wert as my brother,
That sucked the breasts of my mother!
[When] I should find thee without, I would kiss thee;
Yea, and none would despise me. ² I would lead thee, [and] bring thee into my mother's house,
Who would instruct me;
I would cause thee to drink of spiced wine,
Of the juice of my pomegranate.

⁶ And in this mountain will Jehovah of hosts make unto all peoples a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

¹ Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. ² Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

²⁶ And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it; and he gave to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

²⁰ And he arose, and came to his father. But while he was yet afar off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

⁷ And when we had finished the voyage from Tyre, we arrived at Ptolemais; and we saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day.

¹⁴ Salute one another with a kiss of love.

Peace be unto you all that are in Christ.

²³ Take thou also unto thee the chief spices: of flowing myrrh five hundred [shekels], and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty, ²⁴ and of cassia five hundred, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of olive oil a hin; ²⁵ and thou shalt make it a holy anointing oil, a perfume compounded after the art of the perfumer: it shall be a holy anointing oil. ²⁶ And thou shalt anoint therewith the tent of meeting, and the ark of the testimony, ²⁷ and the table and all the vessels thereof, and the candlestick and the vessels thereof, and the altar of incense, ²⁸ and the altar of burnt-offering with all the vessels thereof, and the laver and the base thereof.

¹² And Moses said unto Jehovah, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found favor in my sight.

¹⁹ And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and will proclaim the name of Jehovah before thee; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.

⁵ And Jehovah descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of Jehovah. ⁶ And Jehovah passed by before him, and proclaimed, Jehovah, Jehovah, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness and truth; ⁷ keeping lovingkindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin; and that will by no means clear [the guilty], visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation.

⁷ Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated wickedness:
Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee
With the oil of gladness above thy fellows. ⁸ All thy garments [smell of] myrrh, and aloes, [and] cassia;
Out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made thee glad.

¹⁴ She shall be led unto the king in broidered work:
The virgins her companions that follow her
Shall be brought unto thee.

¹⁵ Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound:
They walk, O Jehovah, in the light of thy countenance. ¹⁶ In thy name do they rejoice all the day;
And in thy righteousness are they exalted.

² It is like the precious oil upon the head,
That ran down upon the beard,
Even Aaron's beard;
That came down upon the skirt of his garments;

⁹ Oil and perfume rejoice the heart;
So doth the sweetness of a man's friend [that cometh] of hearty counsel.

¹ A [good] name is better than precious oil; and the day of death, than the day of one's birth.

⁶ Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness
Like pillars of smoke,
Perfumed with myrrh and frankincense,
With all powders of the merchant?

⁵ I rose up to open to my beloved;
And my hands dropped with myrrh,
And my fingers with liquid myrrh,
Upon the handles of the bolt.

¹³ His cheeks are as a bed of spices,
[As] banks of sweet herbs:
His lips are [as] lilies, dropping liquid myrrh.

⁸ There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines,
And virgins without number.

⁶ For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. ⁷ Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.

³ to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, that he may be glorified.

⁵ Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. ⁶ In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely; and this is his name whereby he shall be called: Jehovah our righteousness.

²¹ And she shall bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name JESUS; for it is he that shall save his people from their sins. ²² Now all this is come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, ²³ Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son,
And they shall call his name Immanuel;
which is, being interpreted,
God with us.

¹ { Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

³ Mary therefore took a pound of ointment of pure nard, very precious, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment.

¹⁴ But thanks be unto God, who always leadeth us in triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest through us the savor of his knowledge in every place. ¹⁵ For we are a sweet savor of Christ unto God, in them that are saved, and in them that perish; ¹⁶ to the one a savor from death unto death; to the other a savor from life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

² For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy: for I espoused you to one husband, that I might present you [as] a pure virgin to Christ.

⁹ Wherefore also God highly exalted him, and gave unto him the name which is above every name; ¹⁰ that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven and [things] on earth and [things] under the earth,

¹⁸ But I have all things, and abound: I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things [that came] from you, an odor of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God.

⁴ These are they that were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These [are] they that follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were purchased from among men, [to be] the firstfruits unto God and unto the Lamb.

⁴ These things I remember, and pour out my soul within me,
How I went with the throng, and led them to the house of God,
With the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping holyday.

¹⁴ She shall be led unto the king in broidered work:
The virgins her companions that follow her
Shall be brought unto thee. ¹⁵ With gladness and rejoicing shall they be led:
They shall enter into the king's palace.

⁹ We have thought on thy lovingkindness, O God,
In the midst of thy temple.

⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness;
And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips;

⁴ Make a joyful noise unto Jehovah, all the earth:
Break forth and sing for joy, yea, sing praises. ⁵ Sing praises unto Jehovah with the harp;
With the harp and the voice of melody. ⁶ With trumpets and sound of cornet
Make a joyful noise before the King, Jehovah. ⁷ Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof;
The world, and they that dwell therein; ⁸ Let the floods clap their hands;
Let the hills sing for joy together ⁹ Before Jehovah; for he cometh to judge the earth:
He will judge the world with righteousness,
And the peoples with equity.

Bless Jehovah, O my soul;
And all that is within me, [bless] his holy name. ² Bless Jehovah, O my soul,
And forget not all his benefits:

⁴ He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered:
Jehovah is gracious and merciful.

³² I will run the way of thy commandments,
When thou shalt enlarge my heart.

⁶⁰ I made haste, and delayed not,
To observe thy commandments.

² Let Israel rejoice in him that made him:
Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.

² Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth;

³ As the apple-tree among the trees of the wood,
So is my beloved among the sons.
I sat down under his shadow with great delight,
And his fruit was sweet to my taste.
⁴ He brought me to the banqueting-house,
And his banner over me was love. ⁵ Stay ye me with raisins, refresh me with apples;
For I am sick from love.

⁴ It was but a little that I passed from them,
When I found him whom my soul loveth:
I held him, and would not let him go,
Until I had brought him into my mother's house,
And into the chamber of her that conceived me.

⁸ He hath swallowed up death for ever; and the Lord Jehovah will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach of his people will he take away from off all the earth: for Jehovah hath spoken it.

²⁵ In Jehovah shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

⁷ I will make mention of the lovingkindnesses of Jehovah, [and] the praises of Jehovah, according to all that Jehovah hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

³ Jehovah appeared of old unto me, [saying], Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

⁴ I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love; and I was to them as they that lift up the yoke on their jaws; and I laid food before them.

¹⁴ Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy king cometh unto thee; he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, even upon a colt the foal of an ass.

¹⁰ And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut.

¹⁰ And the angel said unto them, Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all the people:

¹⁹ And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and gave to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

⁴⁴ No man can come to me, except the Father that sent me draw him: and I will raise him up in the last day.

³² And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto myself.}

² In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. ³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also.

¹⁵ So when they had broken their fast, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, [son] of John, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. ¹⁶ He saith to him again a second time, Simon, [son] of John, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Tend my sheep. ¹⁷ He saith unto him the third time, Simon, [son] of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, { Feed my sheep.

²³ For I received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which he was betrayed took bread; ²⁴ and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, This is my body, which is for you: this do in remembrance of me. ²⁵ In like manner also the cup, after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood: this do, as often as ye drink [it], in remembrance of me. ²⁶ For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink the cup, ye proclaim the Lord's death till he come.

⁶ and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly [places], in Christ Jesus:

²⁴ Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ with [a love] incorruptible.

¹² So then, my beloved, even as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; ¹³ for it is God who worketh in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure.

³ for we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God, and glory in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh:

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always: again I will say, Rejoice.

¹ Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

⁸ whom not having seen ye love; on whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice greatly with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

⁹ Kings' daughters are among thy honorable women:
At thy right hand doth stand the queen in gold of Ophir.

¹⁷ And let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us;
And establish thou the work of our hands upon us;
Yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

⁵ Woe is me, that I sojourn in Meshech,
That I dwell among the tents of Kedar!

⁴ For Jehovah taketh pleasure in his people:
He will beautify the meek with salvation.

⁷ I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem,
By the roes, or by the hinds of the field,
That ye stir not up, nor awake [my] love,
Until he please.

¹⁴ O my dove, that art in the clefts of the rock,
In the covert of the steep place,
Let me see thy countenance,
Let me hear thy voice;
For sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is comely.

⁵ I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem,
By the roes, or by the hinds of the field,
That ye stir not up, nor awake [my] love,
Until he please.

¹⁰ He made the pillars thereof of silver,
The bottom thereof of gold, the seat of it of purple,
The midst thereof being paved with love,
From the daughters of Jerusalem.

³ Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet,
And thy mouth is comely.
Thy temples are like a piece of a pomegranate
Behind thy veil.

⁸ I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem,
If ye find my beloved,
That ye tell him, that I am sick from love.

⁴ Thou art fair, O my love, as Tirzah,
Comely as Jerusalem,
Terrible as an army with banners.

⁴ I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem,
That ye stir not up, nor awake [my] love,
Until he please.

² For he grew up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

⁷ All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto thee; they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar; and I will glorify the house of my glory.

¹⁰ I will greatly rejoice in Jehovah, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with a garland, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

¹⁴ And thy renown went forth among the nations for thy beauty; for it was perfect, through my majesty which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord Jehovah.

²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he be as his teacher, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more them of his household!

¹¹ But when the king came in to behold the guests, he saw there a man who had not on a wedding-garment:

³⁴ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen [gathereth] her own brood under her wings, and ye would not!

²² But the father said to his servants, Bring forth quickly the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

¹⁴ But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to [fulfil] the lusts [thereof].

¹⁰ We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye have glory, but we have dishonor. ¹¹ Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling-place; ¹² and we toil, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure; ¹³ being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things, even until now.

²¹ Him who knew no sin he made [to be] sin on our behalf; that we might become the righteousness of God in him.

²⁶ But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is our mother.

²⁶ that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,

¹ Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and [such] we are. For this cause the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

¹⁹ So they two went until they came to Beth-lehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Beth-lehem, that all the city was moved about them, and [the women] said, Is this Naomi? ²⁰ And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara; for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. ²¹ I went out full, and Jehovah hath brought me home again empty; why call ye me Naomi, seeing Jehovah hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?

³⁰ My skin is black, [and falleth] from me,
And my bones are burned with heat.

⁸ I am become a stranger unto my brethren,
And an alien unto my mother's children.

¹¹ Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon;
He let out the vineyard unto keepers;
Every one for the fruit thereof was to bring a thousand [pieces] of silver. ¹² My vineyard, which is mine, is before me:
Thou, O Solomon, shalt have the thousand,
And those that keep the fruit thereof two hundred.

²¹ For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt: I mourn; dismay hath taken hold on me.

⁶ For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee; even they have cried aloud after thee: believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee.

⁸ Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets:
Their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick.

⁶ For the son dishonoreth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

²² And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.

³⁵ For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law: ³⁶ and a man's foes [shall be] they of his own household.

⁶ and when the sun was risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

⁵¹ Think ye that I am come to give peace in the earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: ⁵² for there shall be from henceforth five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. ⁵³ They shall be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother; mother in law against her daughter in law, and daughter in law against her mother in law.}

²² confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God.

²⁹ But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him [that was born] after the Spirit, so also it is now.

¹⁶ And he said, I am seeking my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they are feeding [the flock].

²⁰ And Samuel said unto the people, Fear not; ye have indeed done all this evil; yet turn not aside from following Jehovah, but serve Jehovah with all your heart: ²¹ and turn ye not aside; for [then would ye go] after vain things which cannot profit nor deliver, for they are vain.

¹ For the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David the servant of Jehovah, who spake unto Jehovah the words of this song in the day that Jehovah delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: and he said,

I love thee, O Jehovah, my strength.

¹ A Psalm of David.

Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not want. ² He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;
He leadeth me beside still waters.

¹ [A Psalm] of David.

Unto thee, O Jehovah, will I call:
My rock, be not thou deaf unto me;
Lest, if thou be silent unto me,
I become like them that go down into the pit.

Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel,
Thou that leadest Joseph like a flock;
Thou that sittest [above] the cherubim, shine forth.

¹ I love Jehovah, because he heareth
My voice and my supplications.

³ As the apple-tree among the trees of the wood,

¹⁶ My beloved is mine, and I am his:
He feedeth [his flock] among the lilies.

¹ By night on my bed
I sought him whom my soul loveth:
I sought him, but I found him not. ² [I said], I will rise now, and go about the city;
In the streets and in the broad ways
I will seek him whom my soul loveth:
I sought him, but I found him not. ³ The watchmen that go about the city found me;
[To whom I said], Saw ye him whom my soul loveth? ⁴ It was but a little that I passed from them,
When I found him whom my soul loveth:
I held him, and would not let him go,
Until I had brought him into my mother's house,
And into the chamber of her that conceived me.

¹⁰ My beloved is white and ruddy,
The chiefest among ten thousand.

³ I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine:
He feedeth [his flock] among the lilies.

¹³ Thou that dwellest in the gardens,
The companions hearken for thy voice:
Cause me to hear it.

²⁰ It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall shepherds make their flocks to lie down there.

⁹ With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee earnestly: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

¹¹ He will feed his flock like a shepherd, he will gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom, [and] will gently lead those that have their young.

¹² Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Yet again shall there be in this place, which is waste, without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, a habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.

⁴ And he shall stand, and shall feed [his flock] in the strength of Jehovah, in the majesty of the name of Jehovah his God: and they shall abide; for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.

³⁷ He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

⁶⁷ Jesus said therefore unto the twelve, Would ye also go away? ⁶⁸ Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. ⁶⁹ And we have believed and know that thou art the Holy One of God.

¹¹ I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd layeth down his life for the sheep.

²⁸ and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, who hath given [them] unto me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch [them] out of the Father's hand.

¹⁷ He saith unto him the third time, Simon, [son] of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, { Feed my sheep.

¹⁴ and above all these things [put on] love, which is the bond of perfectness. ¹⁵ And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to the which also ye were called in one body; and be ye thankful. ¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms [and] hymns [and] spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts unto God. ¹⁷ And whatsoever ye do, in word or in deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
¹⁸ Wives, be in subjection to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

⁷ For you therefore that believe is the preciousness: but for such as disbelieve,
The stone which the builders rejected,
The same was made the head of the corner;

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us: but [they went out], that they might be made manifest that they all are not of us.

¹⁷ for the Lamb that is in the midst of the throne shall be their shepherd, and shall guide them unto fountains of waters of life: and God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes.

³ As for the saints that are in the earth,
They are the excellent in whom is all my delight.

¹¹ So will the king desire thy beauty;
For he is thy lord; and reverence thou him.

¹³ The king's daughter within [the palace] is all glorious:
Her clothing is inwrought with gold.

³⁴ Blessed is the man that heareth me,
Watching daily at my gates,
Waiting at the posts of my doors.

¹⁵ Behold, thou art fair, my love;
Behold thou art fair;
Thine eyes are [as] doves.

¹⁰ My beloved spake, and said unto me,
Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.

¹ Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair;
Thine eyes are [as] doves behind thy veil.
Thy hair is as a flock of goats,
That lie along the side of mount Gilead.

⁷ Thou art all fair, my love;
And there is no spot in thee.

⁹ What is thy beloved more than [another] beloved,
O thou fairest among women?
What is thy beloved more than [another] beloved,
That thou dost so adjure us?

¹ Whither is thy beloved gone,
O thou fairest among women?
Whither hath thy beloved turned him,
That we may seek him with thee?

⁴ Thou art fair, O my love, as Tirzah,
Comely as Jerusalem,
Terrible as an army with banners. ⁵ Turn away thine eyes from me,
For they have overcome me.
Thy hair is as a flock of goats,
That lie along the side of Gilead. ⁶ Thy teeth are like a flock of ewes,
Which are come up from the washing;
Whereof every one hath twins,
And none is bereaved among them. ⁷ Thy temples are like a piece of a pomegranate
Behind thy veil. ⁸ There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines,
And virgins without number. ⁹ My dove, my undefiled, is [but] one;
She is the only one of her mother;
She is the choice one of her that bare her.
The daughters saw her, and called her blessed;
[Yea], the queens and the concubines, and they praised her. ¹⁰ Who is she that looketh forth as the morning,
Fair as the moon,
Clear as the sun,
Terrible as an army with banners?

¹ How beautiful are thy feet in sandals, O prince's daughter!
Thy rounded thighs are like jewels,
The work of the hands of a skilful workman. ² Thy body is [like] a round goblet,
[Wherein] no mingled wine is wanting:
Thy waist is [like] a heap of wheat
Set about with lilies. ³ Thy two breasts are like two fawns
That are twins of a roe. ⁴ Thy neck is like the tower of ivory;
Thine eyes [as] the pools in Heshbon,
By the gate of Bath-rabbim;
Thy nose is like the tower of Lebanon
Which looketh toward Damascus. ⁵ Thy head upon thee is like Carmel,
And the hair of thy head like purple;
The king is held captive in the tresses [thereof]. ⁶ How fair and how pleasant art thou,
O love, for delights! ⁷ This thy stature is like to a palm-tree,
And thy breasts to its clusters. ⁸ I said, I will climb up into the palm-tree,
I will take hold of the branches thereof:
Let thy breasts be as clusters of the vine,
And the smell of thy breath like apples, ⁹ And thy mouth like the best wine,
That goeth down smoothly for my beloved,
Gliding through the lips of those that are asleep.
¹⁰ I am my beloved's;
And his desire is toward me. ¹¹ Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field;
Let us lodge in the villages. ¹² Let us get up early to the vineyards;
Let us see whether the vine hath budded,
[And] its blossom is open,
[And] the pomegranates are in flower:
There will I give thee my love. ¹³ The mandrakes give forth fragrance;
And at our doors are all manner of precious fruits, new and old,
Which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved.

¹⁶ Thus saith Jehovah, Stand ye in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way; and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls: but they said, We will not walk [therein].

¹⁵ So when they had broken their fast, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, [son] of John, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.

¹ Be ye imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ.

²⁷ that he might present the church to himself a glorious [church], not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

¹² that ye be not sluggish, but imitators of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

⁴ By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he had witness borne to him that he was righteous, God bearing witness in respect of his gifts: and through it he being dead yet speaketh. ⁵ By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and he was not found, because God translated him: for he hath had witness borne to him that before his translation he had been well-pleasing unto God: ⁶ and without faith it is impossible to be well-pleasing [unto him]; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that seek after him. ⁷ By faith Noah, being warned [of God] concerning things not seen as yet, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; through which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. ⁸ By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out unto a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. ⁹ By faith he became a sojourner in the land of promise, as in a [land] not his own, dwelling in tents, with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: ¹⁰ for he looked for the city which hath the foundations, whose builder and maker is God. ¹¹ By faith even Sarah herself received power to conceive seed when she was past age, since she counted him faithful who had promised: ¹² wherefore also there sprang of one, and him as good as dead, [so many] as the stars of heaven in multitude, and as the sand, which is by the sea-shore, innumerable.
¹³ These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. ¹⁴ For they that say such things make it manifest that they are seeking after a country of their own. ¹⁵ And if indeed they had been mindful of that [country] from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return. ¹⁶ But now they desire a better [country], that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for he hath prepared for them a city.
¹⁷ By faith Abraham, being tried, offered up Isaac: yea, he that had gladly received the promises was offering up his only begotten [son]; ¹⁸ [even he] to whom it was said, In Isaac shall thy seed be called: ¹⁹ accounting that God [is] able to raise up, even from the dead; from whence he did also in a figure receive him back. ²⁰ By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even concerning things to come. ²¹ By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, [leaning] upon the top of his staff. ²² By faith Joseph, when his end was nigh, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones. ²³ By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months by his parents, because they saw he was a goodly child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment. ²⁴ By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; ²⁵ choosing rather to share ill treatment with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; ²⁶ accounting the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt: for he looked unto the recompense of reward. ²⁷ By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. ²⁸ By faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of the blood, that the destroyer of the firstborn should not touch them. ²⁹ By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were swallowed up. ³⁰ By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they had been compassed about for seven days. ³¹ By faith Rahab the harlot perished not with them that were disobedient, having received the spies with peace.
³² And what shall I more say? for the time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah; of David and Samuel and the prophets: ³³ who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, ³⁴ quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, waxed mighty in war, turned to flight armies of aliens. ³⁵ Women received their dead by a resurrection: and others were tortured, not accepting their deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: ³⁶ and others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: ³⁷ they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, they were tempted, they were slain with the sword: they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated ³⁸ (of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves, and the holes of the earth. ³⁹ And these all, having had witness borne to them through their faith, received not the promise, ⁴⁰ God having provided some better thing concerning us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.

⁷ Remember them that had the rule over you, men that spake unto you the word of God; and considering the issue of their life, imitate their faith.

²¹ Was not Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son upon the altar?

²⁵ And in like manner was not also Rahab the harlot justified by works, in that she received the messengers, and sent them out another way?

¹⁰ Take, brethren, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spake in the name of the Lord.

⁶ as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose children ye now are, if ye do well, and are not put in fear by any terror.

⁷ Let us rejoice and be exceeding glad, and let us give the glory unto him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. ⁸ And it was given unto her that she should array herself in fine linen, bright [and] pure: for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

²⁸ And the horses which Solomon had were brought out of Egypt; and the king's merchants received them in droves, each drove at a price.

¹⁴ And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, that he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem. ¹⁵ And the king made silver and gold to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycomore-trees that are in the lowland, for abundance. ¹⁶ And the horses which Solomon had were brought out of Egypt; the king's merchants received them in droves, each drove at a price. ¹⁷ And they fetched up and brought out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred [shekels] of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty: and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Syria, did they bring them out by their means.

² As a lily among thorns,
So is my love among the daughters.

¹³ The fig-tree ripeneth her green figs,
And the vines are in blossom;
They give forth their fragrance.
Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.

² I was asleep, but my heart waked:
It is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, [saying],
Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled;
For my head is filled with dew,
My locks with the drops of the night.

¹ Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek Jehovah!

¹⁴ Ye are my friends, if ye do the things which I command you. ¹⁵ No longer do I call you servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I heard from my Father, I have made known unto you.

²² And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden ring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold,

⁴⁷ And I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she said, The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bare unto him: and I put the ring upon her nose, and the bracelets upon her hands.

⁴² And Pharaoh took off his signet ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;

⁵⁰ And we have brought Jehovah's oblation, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, ankle-chains, and bracelets, signet-rings, ear-rings, and armlets, to make atonement for our souls before Jehovah.

⁹ For they shall be a chaplet of grace unto thy head,
And chains about thy neck.

⁹ Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, [my] bride;
Thou hast ravished my heart with one of thine eyes,
With one chain of thy neck.

¹⁸ In that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their anklets, and the cauls, and the crescents; ¹⁹ the pendants, and the bracelets, and the mufflers; ²⁰ the headtires, and the ankle chains, and the sashes, and the perfume-boxes, and the amulets; ²¹ the rings, and the nose-jewels;

¹¹ And I decked thee with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck. ¹² And I put a ring upon thy nose, and ear-rings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thy head. ¹³ Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil; and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper unto royal estate.

⁴ but [let it be] the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible [apparel] of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

³ seeing that his divine power hath granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue; ⁴ whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.

²⁶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

⁹ If she be a wall,
We will build upon her a turret of silver:
And if she be a door,
We will inclose her with boards of cedar.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it; ²⁶ that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, ²⁷ that he might present the church to himself a glorious [church], not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

²¹ who shall fashion anew the body of our humiliation, [that it may be] conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working whereby he is able even to subject all things unto himself.

My heart overfloweth with a goodly matter;
I speak the things which I have made touching the king:
My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

¹³ Thy shoots are an orchard of pomegranates, with precious fruits;
Henna with spikenard plants, ¹⁴ Spikenard and saffron,
Calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense;
Myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices. ¹⁵ [Thou art] a fountain of gardens,
A well of living waters,
And flowing streams from Lebanon.
¹⁶ Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south;
Blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out.
Let my beloved come into his garden,
And eat his precious fruits.

⁵ Thy head upon thee is like Carmel,
And the hair of thy head like purple;
The king is held captive in the tresses [thereof].

⁴ Again he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them that are bidden, Behold, I have made ready my dinner; my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come to the marriage feast.

³⁴ Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

²⁶ And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it; and he gave to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. ²⁷ And he took a cup, and gave thanks, and gave to them, saying, { Drink ye all of it; ²⁸ for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many unto remission of sins.

³ And while he was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster cruse of ointment of pure nard very costly; [and] she brake the cruse, and poured it over his head.

³⁰ And it came to pass, when he had sat down with them to meat, he took the bread and blessed; and breaking [it] he gave to them. ³¹ And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. ³² And they said one to another, Was not our heart burning within us, while he spake to us in the way, while he opened to us the scriptures?

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

³ And another angel came and stood over the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should add it unto the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. ⁴ And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, went up before God out of the angel's hand.

¹¹ And their father Israel said unto them, If it be so now, do this: take of the choice fruits of the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spicery and myrrh, nuts, and almonds;

⁸ All thy garments [smell of] myrrh, and aloes, [and] cassia;
Out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made thee glad.

⁶ Until the day be cool, and the shadows flee away,
I will get me to the mountain of myrrh,
And to the hill of frankincense.

¹⁴ Spikenard and saffron,
Calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense;
Myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices.

¹ I am come into my garden, my sister, [my] bride:
I have gathered my myrrh with my spice;
I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey;
I have drunk my wine with my milk.
Eat, O friends;
Drink, yea, drink abundantly, O beloved.

³ His left hand [should be] under my head,
And his right hand should embrace me.
⁴ I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem,
That ye stir not up, nor awake [my] love,
Until he please.

³⁹ And there came also Nicodemus, he who at the first came to him by night, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.

¹⁷ that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

⁶² and Nibshan, and the City of Salt, and En-gedi; six cities with their villages.

²⁹ And David went up from thence, and dwelt in the strongholds of En-gedi.

¹³ My beloved is unto me [as] a bundle of myrrh,
That lieth betwixt my breasts.

¹³ Thy shoots are an orchard of pomegranates, with precious fruits;
Henna with spikenard plants, ¹⁴ Spikenard and saffron,
Calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense;
Myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices.

⁸ If thou know not, O thou fairest among women,
Go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock,
And feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents.

¹² His eyes are like doves beside the water-brooks,
Washed with milk, [and] fitly set.

¹⁴ Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because Jehovah hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously, though she is thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.

² For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy: for I espoused you to one husband, that I might present you [as] a pure virgin to Christ. ³ But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve in his craftiness, your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity and the purity that is toward Christ.

¹⁷ that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; ¹⁸ having the eyes of your heart enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

² Thou art fairer than the children of men;
Grace is poured into thy lips:
Therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.

³ Thy people offer themselves willingly In the day of thy power, in holy array:
Out of the womb of the morning
Thou hast the dew of thy youth.

⁷ Behold, it is the litter of Solomon;
Threescore mighty men are about it,
Of the mighty men of Israel.

¹⁰ My beloved is white and ruddy,
The chiefest among ten thousand. ¹¹ His head is [as] the most fine gold;
His locks are bushy, [and] black as a raven. ¹² His eyes are like doves beside the water-brooks,
Washed with milk, [and] fitly set. ¹³ His cheeks are as a bed of spices,
[As] banks of sweet herbs:
His lips are [as] lilies, dropping liquid myrrh. ¹⁴ His hands are [as] rings of gold set with beryl:
His body is [as] ivory work overlaid [with] sapphires. ¹⁵ His legs are [as] pillars of marble, set upon sockets of fine gold:
His aspect is like Lebanon, excellent as the cedars. ¹⁶ His mouth is most sweet;
Yea, he is altogether lovely.
This is my beloved, and this is my friend,
O daughters of Jerusalem.

¹⁷ For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! grain shall make the young men flourish, and new wine the virgins.

⁸ Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ, ⁹ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, [even] that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith:

¹¹ And I saw, and I heard a voice of many angels round about the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; ¹² saying with a great voice,
Worthy is the Lamb that hath been slain to receive the power, and riches, and wisdom, and might, and honor, and glory, and blessing. ¹³ And every created thing which is in the heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and on the sea, and all things that are in them, heard I saying,
Unto him that sitteth on the throne, and unto the Lamb, [be] the blessing, and the honor, and the glory, and the dominion, for ever and ever.

⁹ So he built the house, and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar.

⁸ Send me also cedar-trees, fir-trees, and algum-trees, out of Lebanon; for I know that thy servants know how to cut timber in Lebanon. And, behold, my servants shall be with thy servants, ⁹ even to prepare me timber in abundance; for the house which I am about to build shall be great and wonderful.

¹² The righteous shall flourish like the palm-tree:
He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

¹⁶ the thresholds, and the closed windows, and the galleries round about on their three stories, over against the threshold, ceiled with wood round about, and [from] the ground up to the windows (now the windows were covered),

¹⁰ for he looked for the city which hath the foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

⁴ unto whom coming, a living stone, rejected indeed of men, but with God elect, precious, ⁵ ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
