⁸ I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on the earth?

⁵ God is in the middle of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

⁷ Hear me speedily, O LORD: my spirit fails: hide not your face from me, lest I be like to them that go down into the pit. ⁸ Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning; for in you do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul to you. ⁹ Deliver me, O LORD, from my enemies: I flee to you to hide me.

⁹ Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. ¹⁰ And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. ¹¹ And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. ¹² And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. ¹³ But he that shall endure to the end, the same shall be saved.

²⁴ For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

²⁶ And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. ²⁷ They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. ²⁸ Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; ²⁹ But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. ³⁰ Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

¹ But of the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that I write to you. ² For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. ³ For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction comes on them, as travail on a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

²³ Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) ²⁴ And let us consider one another to provoke to love and to good works: ²⁵ Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching. ²⁶ For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins,

¹ Go to now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come on you. ² Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver is corroded; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. You have heaped treasure together for the last days. ⁴ Behold, the hire of the laborers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, cries: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. ⁵ You have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; you have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. ⁶ You have condemned and killed the just; and he does not resist you. ⁷ Be patient therefore, brothers, to the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. ⁸ Be you also patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draws near.

³ And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingers not, and their damnation slumbers not.

⁸ But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. ⁹ The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
