¹ Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

⁴⁵ Then shall he answer them, saying, Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.

¹⁵ But if your brother be grieved with your meat, now walk you not charitably. Destroy not him with your meat, for whom Christ died.

¹ Now as touching things offered to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but charity edifies.

⁸ For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

¹⁶ And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

²⁹ Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? ³⁰ Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

² And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. ³ And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profits me nothing.

⁸ Charity never fails: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

⁶ Now, brothers, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? ⁷ And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? ⁸ For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

⁴ How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

⁶ For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision avails any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which works by love.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

⁵ Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

⁸ And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

¹⁸ For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
