¹⁷ But thanks be to God, that ye were servants of sin, but obeyed from the heart that form of teaching which was delivered to you;

²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and said: I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from the wise and discerning, and reveal them to babes; ²⁶ yea, O Father, that so it seemed good in thy sight!

¹⁸ When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying: So then, to the Gentiles also God gave repentance unto life.

¹⁵ And from thence, the brethren, having heard of us, came to meet us as far as Appii Forum, and the Three Taverns; whom when Paul saw, he gave thanks to God, and took courage.

⁵ through whom we received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all the nations, for his name's sake;

⁸ First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of in all the world.

⁸ but to those who are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

¹⁸ For I will not dare to speak of any of the things which Christ wrought not through me, to bring the Gentiles to obedience, by word and deed,

²⁶ but now made manifest, and through the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, made known to all nations for obedience to the faith,

⁴ I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus;

⁹ Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And such were some of you; but ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

¹⁴ But thanks be to God, who always causes us to triumph in Christ, and makes manifest by us in every place the savor of the knowledge of him.

⁵ casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ; ⁶ and being in readiness to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is made perfect.

¹⁶ cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;

⁵ even when we were dead in sins, alive with Christ, (by grace ye are saved,) ⁶ and raised us with him, and made us sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus; ⁷ that he might show, in the ages to come, the exceeding richness of his grace, in his kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. ⁸ For by grace ye are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; ⁹ not of works, lest any one should boast. ¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God before prepared that we should walk in them.

³ I thank my God on every remembrance of you,— ⁴ always, in every supplication of mine, making the supplication for you all with joy,— ⁵ for your fellowship in respect to the gospel from the first day until now;

³ We give thanks to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, ⁴ having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have toward all the saints,

² We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; ³ remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ, before God and our Father;

⁹ For what thanks can we render to God for you, for all the joy wherewith we rejoice for your sakes before our God;

³ We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of each one of you all toward one another abounds;

¹³ who was formerly a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and overbearing. But I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly, in unbelief; ¹⁴ and the grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly, with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. ¹⁶ But for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Christ Jesus might show forth all his long-suffering, for a pattern to those who should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

³ I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; ⁴ longing to see thee, remembering thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; ⁵ calling to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that it dwells in thee also.

¹³ Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou heardest from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

³ For we ourselves also were once foolish, disobedient, going astray, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. ⁴ But when the kindness and the love toward man of our Savior God appeared, ⁵ not by works of righteousness which we did, but according to his mercy he saved us, through the bathing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit; ⁶ which he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior; ⁷ that, having been justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

⁴ I thank my God always, making mention of thee in my prayers,

⁹ and being perfected became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey him;

⁸ By faith Abraham when called obeyed, to go forth into a place which he should afterward receive for an inheritance, and went forth, not knowing whither he went.

²² Having purified your souls in obeying the truth unto unfeigned brotherly love, love one another from the heart fervently;

⁹ But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession; that ye should show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;

¹ IN like manner, ye wives, being in subjection to your own husbands; that even if any obey not the word, they may without the word be won by the deportment of their wives,

² that ye no longer may live the remaining time in the flesh by the lusts of men, but by the will of God. ³ For the time past suffices us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in wantonness, lusts, excess of wine, revelings, carousings, and unhallowed idolatries; ⁴ at which thing they are astonished, as ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you; ⁵ who shall give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

¹⁷ Because the time is come that judgment should begin from the house of God; but if it begin first from us, what shall be the end of those who obey not the gospel of God?

⁴ I rejoiced greatly, that I have found of thy children walking in truth, as we received commandment from the Father.

³ For I rejoiced greatly, when brethren came and bore witness to thy truth, as thou walkest in the truth.
