¹ AFTER these things I saw, and, behold, a door set open in heaven, and that first voice (which I heard as of a trumpet speaking with me) saying: Come up hither, and I will show thee what things must take place after these. ² Immediately I was in the Spirit; and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. ³ And he who sat was like in appearance to a jasper and sardine stone; and there was a rainbow round the throne, like in appearance to an emerald; ⁴ and around the throne were twenty-four thrones; and upon the thrones twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white garments, and on their heads crowns of gold. ⁵ And out of the throne proceed lightnings, and voices, and thunders; and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God; ⁶ and before the throne as it were a sea of glass like to crystal; and in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, four animals full of eyes before and behind. ⁷ And the first animal was like to a lion, and the second animal like to a calf, and the third animal having its face as of a man, and the fourth animal like to an eagle flying. ⁸ And the four animals had each of them six wings apiece; around and within they are full of eyes; and they have no rest by day and by night, saying: Holy, holy, holy, Lord God the Almighty, who was, and who is, and who is to come. ⁹ And when the animals shall give glory, and honor, and thanksgiving, to him who sits upon the throne, to him who lives forever and ever, ¹⁰ the twenty-four elders will fall down before him who sits upon the throne, and will worship him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying: ¹¹ Worthy art thou, our Lord and our God, to receive the glory, and the honor, and the power; because thou didst create all things, and because of thy will they were, and were created.

¹⁶ And having been immersed, Jesus went up immediately from the water; and lo, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending, as a dove, and coming upon him.

¹⁰ And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens parted, and the Spirit as a dove descending upon him.

²¹ Now it came to pass, when all the people had been immersed, that as Jesus, having also been immersed, was praying, the heaven was opened,

¹³ But when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak from himself, but whatever he shall hear, that will he speak, and he will tell you the things to come.

⁵⁶ Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

¹¹ and he beholds heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as a great sheet, bound by four corners, and let down upon the earth;

¹ THE Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him, to show to his servants what things must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel to his servant John; ² who testified of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ, of whatever things he saw. ³ Happy he that reads, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep the things written therein; for the time is at hand.

¹⁰ I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day; and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet,

¹⁹ Write therefore the things which thou sawest, and the things which are, and the things which shall be after these;

¹² And they heard a loud voice out of heaven, saying to them: Come up hither. And they went up into heaven in the cloud, and their enemies beheld them.

¹⁷ And the seventh poured out his cup upon the air; and there came forth a loud voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying: It is done.

⁶ And he said to me: These sayings are faithful and true; and the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent his angel to show to his servants what things must shortly come to pass.

¹ Now of the things which we are saying, this is the chief: We have such a high priest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty of the heavens;

²¹ He that overcomes, I will give to him to sit with me in my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father in his throne.

⁵ And out of the throne proceed lightnings, and voices, and thunders; and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God;

⁹ And when the animals shall give glory, and honor, and thanksgiving, to him who sits upon the throne, to him who lives forever and ever,

¹ AND I saw, on the right hand of him who sat on the throne, a book written within and on the back side, sealed up with seven seals.

⁶ And I saw, in the midst of the throne and of the four animals, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb standing, as if having been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. ⁷ And he came, and has taken the book out of the right hand of him who sits upon the throne.

¹³ And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and on the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: To him who sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb, be the blessing, and the honor, and the glory, and the dominion, forever and ever.

¹⁶ and they say to the mountains and to the rocks: Fall upon us, and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb;

⁹ After these things I saw, and behold a great multitude, which no one could number, out of every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palms in their hands. ¹⁰ And they cry with a loud voice, saying: Salvation to our God, who sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb. ¹¹ And all the angels were standing round the throne and the elders and the four animals, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshiped God, ¹² saying: Amen; the blessing, and the glory, and the wisdom, and the thanksgiving, and the honor, and the power, and the might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen. ¹³ And one of the elders answered, saying to me: These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and whence came they? ¹⁴ And I said to him: Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me: These are they who come out of the great affliction, and they washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. ¹⁵ Therefore are they before the throne of God, and they serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will spread his tabernacle over them. ¹⁶ They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun fall upon them, nor any heat; ¹⁷ because the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and will lead them to the fountains of the waters of life; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

⁵ And she brought forth a man-child, who will rule all nations with a rod of iron; and her child was caught up to God, and to his throne.

³ And he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting upon a scarlet beast, full of the names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

⁴ And the twenty-four elders, and the four animals, fell down and worshiped God, who sits on the throne, saying: Amen; Alleluia.

¹¹ And I saw a great white throne, and him who sat upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away, and no place was found for them.

⁵ And he who sat upon the throne said: Behold, I make all things new. And he says: Write; because these words are faithful and true.

¹⁰ And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,

¹ AND he showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. ² In the midst of its street, and on either side of the river, was a tree of life, bearing twelve fruits, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. ³ And there will be no more curse. And the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it; and his servants will serve him,

¹ AND I saw another strong angel coming down out of heaven, clothed with a cloud, and the rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire.

¹¹ having the glory of God; her luminary like to a most precious stone, as it were to a jasper stone, clear as crystal;

¹⁹ The foundation-stones of the wall of the city were adorned with every precious stone. The first foundation-stone was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; ²⁰ the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprasus; the eleventh, hyacinth; the twelfth, amethyst.

²⁸ And Jesus said to them: Verily I say to you, that ye who followed me, in the renovation, when the Son of man shall sit on his throne of glory, shall also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

³⁰ that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom; and ye shall sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

⁸ henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me in that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing.

¹⁰ Fear not the things which thou art about to suffer. Behold, the Devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye will have affliction ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.

⁴ But thou hast a few names in Sardis, which did not defile their garments; and they shall walk with me in white, for they are worthy. ⁵ He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white garments; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, and I will acknowledge his name before my Father, and before his angels.

¹⁰ the twenty-four elders will fall down before him who sits upon the throne, and will worship him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying:

⁸ And when he took the book, the four animals, and the twenty-four elders, fell down before the Lamb, having each one a harp, and golden cups full of odors, which are the prayers of saints.

¹⁴ And the four animals said: Amen. And the elders fell down and worshiped.

¹¹ And a white robe was given to each one of them; and it was said to them, that they should rest yet a little time, until also their fellow-servants and their brethren, who are about to be killed as they were, should be fully numbered.

¹³ And one of the elders answered, saying to me: These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and whence came they? ¹⁴ And I said to him: Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me: These are they who come out of the great affliction, and they washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

⁷ And the shapes of the locusts were like to horses prepared for battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.

¹⁶ And the twenty-four elders, who sit before God on their thrones, fell upon their faces, and worshiped God,

¹⁴ And the armies which are in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white, pure.

⁴ And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them; and the souls of those beheaded on account of the testimony of Jesus, and on account of the word of God, and whoever did not worship the beast, neither his image, and did not receive the mark upon the forehead, or upon their hand; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

¹¹ I indeed immerse you in water unto repentance; but he that comes after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to bear; he will immerse you in the Holy Spirit and fire;

³ And there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed among them; and it sat upon each of them.

⁴ Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. ⁵ And there are diversities of ministrations, and the same Lord. ⁶ And there are diversities of operations, but the same God who works all in all. ⁷ But to each is given the manifestation of the Spirit, for profiting. ⁸ For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; ⁹ to another faith, by the same Spirit; to another gifts of healings by the one Spirit; ¹⁰ to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another diversities of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues. ¹¹ But all these works the one and self-same Spirit, dividing to each one severally as he will.

¹⁸ For ye have not come to a mount that is touched, and burning with fire, nor to blackness, and darkness, and tempest, ¹⁹ and the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they who heard refused that more should be spoken to them; ²⁰ for they could not bear that which was commanded, Even if a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned; ²¹ and so terrible was the sight, that Moses said: I fear, and tremble. ²² But ye have come to mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, ²³ to the general assembly and church of the first-born, who are enrolled in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just ones made perfect; ²⁴ and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better than Abel. ²⁵ See that ye refuse not him who speaks; for if they did not escape, refusing him who declared the divine will on earth, much more shall not we, who turn away from him who speaks from heaven; ²⁶ whose voice then shook the earth; but now he has promised, saying: Yet once more I shake, not the earth only, but also heaven. ²⁷ And this, Yet once more, signifies the removing of the things shaken, as of things that have been made, that the things which are not shaken may remain. ²⁸ Wherefore, receiving a kingdom which can not be shaken, let us have grace whereby we may serve God acceptably, with reverence and godly fear; ²⁹ for our God is a consuming fire.

⁴ John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you, and peace, from him who is, and who was, and who is to come; and from the seven spirits that are before his throne;

¹ AND to the angel of the church in Sardis write: These things says he who has the seven spirits of God, and the seven stars. I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

⁶ And I saw, in the midst of the throne and of the four animals, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb standing, as if having been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

⁵ And the angel has taken the censer; and he filled it out of the fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth. And there followed thunders, and lightnings, and voices, and an earthquake.

¹⁹ And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of his covenant was seen in his temple; and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunders, and an earthquake, and a great hail.

¹⁷ And the seventh poured out his cup upon the air; and there came forth a loud voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying: It is done. ¹⁸ And there were lightnings, and voices, and thunders; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since there was a man upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, so great.

⁸ And the four animals had each of them six wings apiece; around and within they are full of eyes; and they have no rest by day and by night, saying: Holy, holy, holy, Lord God the Almighty, who was, and who is, and who is to come. ⁹ And when the animals shall give glory, and honor, and thanksgiving, to him who sits upon the throne, to him who lives forever and ever,

¹⁴ And the four animals said: Amen. And the elders fell down and worshiped.

¹⁷ because the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and will lead them to the fountains of the waters of life; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

³ And they sing as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four animals and the elders; and no one was able to learn the song, except the hundred and forty-four thousand, who are redeemed from the earth.

² And I saw as it were a sea of glass, mingled with fire; and those who had gained the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over the number of his name, standing by the sea of glass, having harps of God.

⁷ And one of the four animals gave to the seven angels seven golden cups, full of the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever.

¹⁸ And the structure of its wall was jasper; and the city was pure gold, like to pure glass.

²¹ And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each several gate was of one pearl; and the street of the city was pure gold, as transparent glass.

¹ AND he showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

⁹ For it is written in the law of Moses: Thou shalt not muzzle an ox while treading out the grain. Is it for the oxen that God cares? ¹⁰ Or does he say it altogether for our sakes? For, for our sakes it was written; that he who plows ought to plow in hope; and he who threshes, in hope of partaking.

²⁰ Brethren, be not children in your understandings; but in malice be as children, but in your understandings be men.

⁶ and before the throne as it were a sea of glass like to crystal; and in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, four animals full of eyes before and behind.

³¹ Therefore watch, remembering that for the space of three years, night and day, I ceased not to warn every one with tears.

¹⁸ and will be to you a Father, and ye shall be to me sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

⁹ For ye remember, brethren, our labor and toil; night and day working, in order not to burden any of you, we preached to you the gospel of God.

⁸ nor did we eat bread of any one for naught, but with labor and toil, working night and day that we might not be burdensome to any of you; ⁹ not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an example to you, that ye should follow us.

¹⁶ Give heed to thyself, and to the teaching; continue in them; for in doing this thou wilt save both thyself, and those who hear thee.

² preach the word; apply thyself in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all long-suffering and teaching.

⁸ Jesus Christ is yesterday and to-day the same, and forever.

⁸ I am the Alpha and the Omega, saith the Lord God, he who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.

⁷ And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These things says the Holy, the True, he who has the key of David, he who opens, and no one shall shut, and shuts, and no one opens.

⁴ and around the throne were twenty-four thrones; and upon the thrones twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white garments, and on their heads crowns of gold.

¹⁵ Therefore are they before the throne of God, and they serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will spread his tabernacle over them.

¹⁷ saying: We give thanks to thee, O Lord God the Almighty, who art, and who wast; because thou hast taken thy great power, and didst reign.

¹¹ And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; and they have no rest day and night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.

³ And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God the Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of the nations.

⁷ And I heard, out of the altar, one saying: Even so, Lord God the Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.

¹⁴ for they are spirits of demons, working signs, which go forth over the kings of the whole habitable world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God the Almighty.

¹⁵ And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he may smite the nations; and he will rule them with a rod of iron; and he treads the wine-press of the fierceness of the wrath of God the Almighty.

²² And I saw in it no temple; for the Lord God the Almighty is its temple, and the Lamb.

⁸ And here indeed men who die receive tithes; but there, one of whom it is testified that he lives.

²⁵ Whence also he is able to save to the utmost those who come to God through him, since he ever lives to intercede for them.

¹⁸ and the living one; and I became dead, and behold I am alive forevermore; and I have the keys of death and of the underworld.

¹³ And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and on the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: To him who sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb, be the blessing, and the honor, and the glory, and the dominion, forever and ever. ¹⁴ And the four animals said: Amen. And the elders fell down and worshiped.

¹¹ And all the angels were standing round the throne and the elders and the four animals, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshiped God, ¹² saying: Amen; the blessing, and the glory, and the wisdom, and the thanksgiving, and the honor, and the power, and the might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen.

⁶ and swore by him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things therein, and the earth and the things therein, and the sea and the things therein, that there shall be time no longer;

¹¹ And coming into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and did homage to him; and opening their treasures, they presented to him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

⁹ and says to him: All these things I will give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. ¹⁰ Then Jesus says to him: Get thee hence, Satan; for it is written: Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

⁵² And they, having worshiped him, returned to Jerusalem with great joy;

¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am; and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all; yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

⁴ Who shall not fear, O Lord, and glorify thy name? Because thou alone art holy; because all the nations shall come and worship before thee; because thy judgments are made manifest.

⁸ And I, John, am he who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel, who showed me these things. ⁹ And he says to me: See thou do it not. I am a fellow-servant of thee and of thy brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the sayings of this book; worship God.

¹ IN the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² The same was in the beginning with God. ³ All things were made by him; and without him was nothing made that has been made.

¹⁵ and saying: Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like nature with you, bringing you glad tidings, that ye should turn from these vanities to the living God, who made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein;

²⁴ The God who made the world and all things therein, he being Lord of heaven and earth, dwells not in temples made with hands;

³⁶ For of him, and through him, and unto him, are all things; to him be the glory forever. Amen.

⁹ and to make all see what is the dispensation of the mystery, which from ages has been hidden in God, who created all things;

¹⁶ because in him were all things created, the things in the heavens, and the things on the earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers; all things have been created by him, and for him; ¹⁷ and he is before all things, and in him all things subsist.

² in these last days spoke to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, by whom he also made the worlds;

¹⁰ and: Thou, Lord, in the beginning, didst found the earth, And the heavens are the works of thy hands;

² And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice: Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose its seals?

⁹ And they sing a new song, saying: Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open its seals; because thou wast slain, and didst redeem to God by thy blood out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation;

¹² saying with a loud voice: Worthy is the Lamb that has been slain, to receive the power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.

⁷ saying with a loud voice: Fear God, and give glory to him, because the hour of his judgment is come; and worship him who made heaven and earth, and sea, and fountains of waters.
