³⁸ Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.

¹ AND calling to him his twelve disciples, he gave them authority over unclean spirits, so as to cast them out, and to heal every sickness and every infirmity. ² And the names of the twelve apostles are these; first Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; ³ Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alpheus, and Lebbeus surnamed Thaddeus;

¹² And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. ¹³ And when it was day, he called to him his disciples. And having chosen from them twelve (whom he named also apostles);

¹ AFTER these things the Lord appointed also seventy others, and sent them two and two before his face, into every city and place, whither he himself was about to come. ² And he said to them: The harvest indeed is great, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.

²¹ Jesus therefore said to them again: Peace be to you. As the Father has sent me, I also send you.

⁴ They, therefore, that were scattered, went abroad, preaching the word.

² And while they were ministering to the Lord, and fasting, the Holy Spirit said: Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul, unto the work to which I have called them.
