¹¹ And the Pharisees, seeing it, said to his disciples: Why does your teacher eat with the publicans and the sinners?

¹⁹ The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say: Behold a glutton and a wine-drinker, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom was justified on the part of her children.

¹⁶ And the scribes and the Pharisees, seeing him eating with the sinners and publicans, said to his disciples: How is it that he eats and drinks with the sinners and the publicans?

¹⁴ And coming to his disciples he saw a great multitude about them, and scribes questioning with them. ¹⁵ And straightway all the multitude seeing him were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him. ¹⁶ And he asked them: What question ye with them?

³⁰ And the Pharisees, and their scribes, murmured against his disciples, saying: Why do ye eat and drink with the publicans and sinners?

¹ AND there were drawing near to him all the publicans and the sinners to hear him. ² And the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying: This man receives sinners, and eats with them.

⁷ And seeing it, they all murmured, saying that he went in to be a guest with a sinner.

⁹ I wrote to you, in my letter, not to keep company with fornicators; ¹⁰ yet not, altogether, with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters; for then ye must needs go out of the world. ¹¹ But as it is, I wrote to you not to keep company, if any one called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner, with such a one not even to eat.

¹⁵ We are Jews by nature, and not sinners from among the Gentiles;

² being able to bear with the ignorant and erring, since he himself also is encompassed with infirmity;

¹⁰ If any one comes to you, and brings not this teaching, receive him not into your house, and do not bid him good speed;
