¹ AND in these days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecian Jews against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

¹³ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for ye go not in, nor suffer those who are entering to go in:

⁴¹ They therefore, having received his word, were immersed and on that day there were added about three thousand souls.

⁴⁵ and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as any one had need.

⁴⁷ praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who are saved.

⁴ But many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men became about five thousand.

³⁵ and laid them at the feet of the apostles; and distribution was made to each one, according as he had need.

¹⁴ (and still more were believers added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women);

²⁸ saying: Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

⁷ And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

²⁹ and speaking boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus; and was speaking and disputing against the Grecian Jews; but they were attempting to slay him.

³⁹ And Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber; and all the widows stood by him weeping, and showing coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

⁴¹ And he gave her his hand, and raised her up; and calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.

²⁰ But some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, having come to Antioch, spoke to the Greeks, publishing the good news of the Lord Jesus.

¹⁰ Nor murmur ye, as some of them murmured, and perished by the destroyer.

²² Are they Hebrews? So am I Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they Abraham's seed? So am I.

⁵ circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee;

⁴ But if any widow has children or grand-children, let these learn first to show piety to their own household, and to requite their parents, for this is acceptable before God. ⁵ Now she that is a widow indeed, and left alone, has set her hope on God, and continues in supplications and prayers, night and day.

⁹ Let not one be enrolled as a widow under threescore years old, having been the wife of one husband;

¹ LET brotherly love continue.

²⁷ Religion, pure and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: To visit the orphans and widows in their affliction; to keep himself unspotted from the world.

⁵ Do ye think that the Scripture says in vain, the spirit he made to dwell in us has jealous longings?

⁹ Murmur not against one another, brethren, that ye be not judged. Behold, the judge stands before the door.
