¹ DO we again begin to commend ourselves? Or need we, as some, letters of commendation to you, or of commendation from you?

²⁷ And he wishing to pass through into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him; who, when he was come, contributed much to those who had believed through grace.

¹⁰ According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master-builder I laid a foundation, and another builds thereon. But let each one take heed how he builds thereon.

¹⁵ For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I begot you through the gospel.

³³ as I also please all in all things, not seeking my own profit, but that of the many, that they may be saved.

³ And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve, them I will send with letters to carry your benefaction to Jerusalem.

¹⁷ For we are not as the many, corrupting the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.

¹² For we are not again commending ourselves to you, but giving you occasion of glorying on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer those who glory in appearance and not in heart.

⁸ For even if I should boast somewhat more abundantly of our authority, which the Lord gave us for edification, and not for your destruction, I shall not be put to shame;

¹² For we venture not to reckon ourselves among, or to compare ourselves with, some of those who commend themselves; but they, measuring themselves among themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are not wise.

¹¹ I have become foolish; ye compelled me. For I ought to have been commended by you; for in nothing was I behind these overmuch apostles, though I am nothing.

¹⁹ Do ye again suppose that we are excusing ourselves to you? Before God in Christ we speak; and all, beloved, for your edification.
