⁴⁴ But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you;

²⁹ And every one who forsook houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive manifold more, and shall inherit everlasting life.

³⁴ Then will the King say to those on his right hand: Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

¹⁷ And as he was going forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeling to him, and asked him: Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

²⁷ But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, ²⁸ bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. ²⁹ To him who smites thee on the cheek offer also the other; and him who takes away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.

²⁵ And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, tempting him, saying: Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

¹⁸ And a certain ruler asked him, saying: Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

³⁰ And whom he predestined, them he also called; and whom he called, them he also justified; and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

¹⁴ Bless those who persecute you; bless, and curse not.

¹⁷ Recompense to no one evil for evil. Provide things honorable in the sight of all men.

¹⁹ Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place to the wrath [of God]. For it is written: To me belongs vengeance; I will recompense, saith the Lord. ²⁰ Therefore, If thy enemy hungers, feed him; If he thirsts, give him drink. For, in doing this, Thou wilt heap coals of fire on his head. ²¹ Be not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

¹² and labor, working with our own hands; being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it; ¹³ being defamed, we entreat; we have become as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things unto this day.

³² and be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, as also God in Christ forgave you.

¹⁵ See that none render evil for evil to any one but ever follow that which is good, both toward one another, and toward all.

¹⁴ saying: Surely, blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.

²⁰ For what glory is it, if when ye are beaten for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? But if when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. ²¹ For to this ye were called; because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that ye should follow his steps; ²² who committed no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth; ²³ who when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, threatened not; but committed it to him who judges righteously;

¹⁰ But the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after ye have suffered a little while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.
