27 Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus into the barracks, and gathered about Him the whole battalion.
28 Then they stripped Him, and put a purple cloak on Him,
29 and made a crown of thorns and set it on His head, and they put a stick in His hand, and kneeling before Him they made sport of Him, saying, "All hail, you king of the Jews!"
30 And they spit on Him, and took the stick and kept hitting Him on the head.
