1 For the music director. A psalm of David. Rescue me, O LORD, from evil men. Preserve me from violent men,
2 who craft evil plans in their minds, inciting wars every day.
3 They sharpen their tongue as sharp as a snake's; the venom of a viper is under their lips. Selah
4 Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the man of violence, who have purposed to overthrow my steps.
5 The proud have hidden a snare for me, they have spread the cords of a net by the path. They have set traps for me. Selah.
6 I have said to the Lord, You are my God: give ear, O Lord, to the voice of my prayer.
7 LORD, my Lord, my strong deliverer, you have protected my head in the time of battle.
8 LORD, do not grant the desires of the wicked. Do not let their evil plans succeed, or they will become proud. Selah.
9 Let the heads of those who surround me be covered with their own threats.
