The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD; but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil. He is Micaiah the son of Imla. Jehoshaphat said, Don't let the king say so.
And the king of Israel called for one of his officers, and said, Bring quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.
And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, were each sitting on their thrones, clothed in their robes, and they sat in the threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
One of them, Zedekiah son of Chenaanah, made iron horns and said to Ahab: This is what the LORD says: "With these you will fight the Syrians and totally defeat them."
And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-Gilead, and prosper; for the LORD will give it into the king`s hand.
The official who had gone to get Micaiah said to him: All the other prophets have prophesied success for the king. You had better do the same.
Micaiah said, “As the LORD lives, I will say what my God says.”
And he came to the king. And the king said to him, Micaiah, shall we go up to Ramoth-gilead to battle or shall I forbear? And he said, Go up and prosper, for they will be given into your hand.
The king said to him, "How many times shall I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?"
Micaiah answered: "I can see the army of Israel scattered over the hills like sheep without a shepherd." the LORD said: "These men have no leader. Let them go home in peace."
Then the king of Israel told Jehoshaphat, "Didn't I tell you that he wouldn't prophesy anything good about me, but only evil?"
Then Micaiah said, "Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting upon his throne with all the host of heaven standing on his right and on his left.
And the LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab the king of Israel that he would go up and fall at Ramoth-Gilead?' And one said this, and another said that.
A spirit came out, stood before the LORD, and said, 'I will entice him.' "The LORD said to him, 'How?'
“He said, 'I will go, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' “He said, 'You will entice him, and will prevail also. Go and do so.'
And now behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets, and the LORD has spoken evil against you.
Then Zedekiah the son of Kenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, "Which way did the Spirit of the LORD come from me to speak to you?"
And Michah Yah says, Behold, you see for yourself the day you go into an inner chamber to hide.
And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah and send him back to Amon, the ruler of the town, and to Joash, the king's son;
Say: "This is what the king says: 'Put this man in prison, and feed him nothing but bread and water until I return home safely.'"
And Micaiah said, "If you surely return in peace the LORD has not spoken with me." Then he said, "Hear, peoples, all of them!"
