Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; because he hath visited and delivered his people.
He indeed hath raised up for us a horn of salvation in the house of his servant David
[as he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets of old]
a deliverance from our enemies, and out of the hand of all who hate us
in kindness to our fathers, and in remembrance of his holy covenant
[as he sware to our father Abraham]
that he would grant us, that we, being delivered out of the hands of our enemies, may serve him without fear,
in holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.
