Genesis 1:14-20 Then God said, "Let there be luminaries in the firmament of heaven, to give light on the earth; to make a separation between the day and the night: and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and for years;

Thomson⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹⁴ Then God said, "Let there be luminaries in the firmament of heaven, to give light on the earth; to make a separation between the day and the night: and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and for years; ¹⁵ and let them be for an illumination in the firmament of heaven so as to shine on the earth." And it was so. ¹⁶ God indeed made the two great luminaries, the greater luminary for the regulations of the day, and the lesser luminary, with the stars, for the regulations of the night. ¹⁷ And God placed them in the firmament of heaven so as to shine on the earth, ¹⁸ and to regulate the day and the night, and to make a division between the light and the darkness. And God saw that it was good. ¹⁹ And there was an evening and there was a morning. The fourth day. ²⁰ Then God said, "Let the waters produce moving creatures having life; and winged creatures flying above the earth in the open firmament of heaven." And it was so.
