4 When the king and his men went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus, the inhabitants of the land,
5 the Jebusites who were there said to David, Thou shalt not come here, yet he took the fortress Sion which is now the city of David.
6 He indeed said, Whoever first smiteth the Jebusites, he shall be made chief and general of the army. Upon which Joab son of Saruia went up first and was made chief.
7 And David made his abode in the fortress, for which cause he called it the city of David,
8 and built the city around it.
