5 (3:3) Let the younger in like manner be subject to the elder, and do you all be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility; for God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;
7 casting all your care upon him, for he cares for you.
8 (3:4) Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil goes about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour;
9 whom resist, firm in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished by your brothers in the world.
10 And may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, when you have suffered a little while, himself make you perfect, confirm, strengthen, establish you.
11 To him be the glory and the power for ever; amen.
12 (3:5) I have written to you in a few words by Silvanus [Silas], a faithful brother as I suppose, exhorting you, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand.
