RKJNT(i)
But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said to them, You men of Judaea, and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to my words:
For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day.
But this is that which was spoken of by the prophet Joel;
And it shall come to pass in the last days, declares God, That I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
And in those days I will pour out my Spirit on my menservants and on my maidservants; and they shall prophesy:
And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs on the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord shall come:
And it shall come to pass, that whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
You men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs, which God performed by him in your midst, as you yourselves know:
This man, being delivered up by the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by the hands of wicked men have crucified and slain.
But God has raised him up, having freed him from the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be held by it.
For David speaks of him, I saw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be shaken:
Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover my flesh shall also abide in hope:
Because you will not leave my soul in Hades, neither will you allow your Holy One to see decay.
You have made known to me the ways of life; you shall make me full of joy with your presence.
Brethren, let me say confidently to you of the patriarch David; that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath that he would seat one of his descendants upon his throne;
He foresaw this and spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in Hades, neither did his flesh see corruption.
This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.
Therefore, being exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured forth this, which you now see and hear.
For David did not ascend into the heavens: but he himself says, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand,
Until I make your foes a footstool for your feet.
Therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Now when they heard this, they were pricked to the heart, and said to Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Brethren, what shall we do?
Then Peter said to them, Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
For the promise is for you, and for your children, and for all who are far off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
And with many other words did he testify and exhort them, saying, Save yourselves from this perverse generation.
Then those who received his word were baptized: and that same day there were added to their number about three thousand souls.
And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in prayer.
