Acts 4:11-21

Noyes(i) 11 This is the stone which was set at nought by you the builders, which is become a cornerstone. 12 And there is salvation in no other; for there is not another name under heaven, that hath been given among men, by which we must be saved. 13 And when they beheld the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and common men, they wondered; and they recognized them as having been with Jesus. 14 And seeing the man that had been cured standing with them, they could say nothing in reply. 15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, 16 saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a remarkable sign hath been wrought by them is manifest to all that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it. 17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us strictly forbid them with threats to speak any longer in this name to any one. 18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all, nor teach, in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, Whether it is right in the sight of God to hearken to you rather than to God, judge ye. 20 For we cannot but speak the things which we saw and heard. 21 So, having further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way to punish them, on account of the people; because all were glorifying God for that which had been done.
