Joshua 5:13-15 It happened, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and look, a man stood in front of him with his sword drawn in his hand. Joshua went to him, and said to him, "Are you for us, or for our adversaries?"

Joshua went to him, and said to him, "Are you for us, or for our adversaries?" ¹⁴ And he said to him, "Truly I am the commander of the army of the LORD. Now I have come." And Joshua fell facedown to the ground and worshipped, and said to him, "What does my lord say to his servant?" ¹⁵ The commander of the army of the LORD said to Joshua, "Take your shoes off of your feet; for the place on which you stand is holy." Joshua did so.
