Moffatt⁽ⁱ⁾ ²⁵ Woe to you, you irreligious scribes and Pharisees! you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are filled with your rapacity and self-indulgence. ²⁶ Blind Pharisee! first clean the inside of the cup, so that the outside may be clean as well. ²⁷ Woe to you, you irreligious scribes and Pharisees! you are like tombs white-washed; they look comely on the outside, but inside they are full of dead men's bones and all manner of impurity. ²⁸ So to men you seem just, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. ²⁹ Woe to you, you irreligious scribes and Pharisees! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the tombs of the just, ³⁰ and you say 'If we had been living in the days of our fathers, we would not have joined them in shedding the blood of the prophets.' ³¹ So you are witnesses against yourselves, that you are sons of those who killed the prophets! ³² And you will fill up the measure that your fathers filled. ³³ You serpents! you brood of vipers! how can you escape being sentenced to Gehenna?
