And Abel, he also brought of the first-offspring of his flock and of the fat of it. And Jehovah had respect to Abel and to his offering,
but he did not have respect to Cain and to his offering. And Cain was furious and his countenance fell.
And Jehovah said to Cain, Why are you furious? And why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin crouches at the door. Its desire will be for you and you should rule over it.
And Cain told Abel his brother. And it happened, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him. 9 And Jehovah said to Cain, Where is Abel your brother? And he said, I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?
And he said, What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries to me from the ground. 11 And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. 12 When you till the ground, it will not again yield to you its strength. You will be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth.
And Cain said to Jehovah, My punishment is greater than I can bear. 14 Behold, you have driven me out this day from the face of the ground and I will be hid from your face and I will be a vagrant and a wanderer in the earth. And it will happen, that whoever finds me will kill me. 15 And Jehovah said to him, Therefore whoever kills Cain, vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold. And Jehovah appointed a sign for Cain, so that anyone who found him should not kill* him.
