MLV(i)
These are the genealogies of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brothers. And he was a lad with the sons of Bilhah and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives and Joseph brought the evil report of them to their father.
Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons, because he was the son of his old age. And he made for him a coat of many colors. 4 And his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers. And they hated him and could not speak peaceably to him.
And Joseph dreamed a dream and he told it to his brothers and they hated him yet the more. 6 And he said to them, Hear, I beseech you*, this dream which I have dreamed. 7 For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright. And behold, your* sheaves came all around and bowed-down to my sheaf.
And his brothers said to him, Shall you indeed reign over us? Or will you indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams and for his words.
And he dreamed yet another dream and told it to his brothers. And said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream again. And behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars were bowing-down to me.
And he told it to his father and to his brothers. And his father rebuked him and said to him, What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow-down ourselves to you to the earth? 11 And his brothers envied him, but his father kept the saying in mind.
