14 Since, then, the children partook of flesh and blood; he, also, in like manner, partook of these; that, through death, he might vanquish him who had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 and deliver them, who, through fear of death, were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 For, indeed, he has not at all assumed the nature of angels; but he has assumed the seed of Abraham.
17 Hence, it was necessary for him to be made like his brethren in all things; that he might be a merciful and faithful High Priest, in matters pertaining to God, in order to expiate the sins of the people;
18 for, by what he suffered himself, when tried; he is able to succor them who are tried.
