Godbey⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ And it came to pass on the second Sabbath, He was going through the cornfields; and His disciples were plucking the ears, and eating, shelling them out with their hands. ² And certain ones of the Pharisees said to them, Why are you doing that which is not lawful to do on the Sabbath? ³ Jesus responded and said to them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was hungry, and those being with him? ⁴ How he entered into the house of God, and how he took the shewbread, and ate it, and gave it to those with him; which is not lawful to eat, except the priests only? ⁵ And He said to them, The Son of man is Lord of the Sabbath also.
