Joshua 8

ECB(i) 1
SONS OF YISRA EL CONQUER AY And Yah Veh says to Yah Shua, Neither awe nor terrify: take all the people of war with you, and rise; ascend to Ay: see, I give into your hand the sovereign of Ay and his people and his city and his land: 2 work to Ay and her sovereign as you worked to Yericho and her sovereign: only, plunder the spoil thereof and the animals thereof to yourselves: lurk for the city behind it. 3 So Yah Shua and all the people of war rise to ascend against Ay: and Yah Shua chooses thirty thousand mighty men of valour, and sends them away by night. 4 And he misvahs them, saying, See, lurk against the city behind the city: go not mighty far from the city, and prepare - all of you: 5 and I and all the people with me approach the city: and so be it, when they come to confront us, we flee from their face, as at first 6 - and they come after us until we tear them from the city; for, they say, They flee our face, as at first: and we flee their face: 7 then rise from the lurk and possess the city: for Yah Veh your Elohim gives it into your hand. 8 And so be it, when you apprehend the city, burn the city on fire: work according to the word of Yah Veh. See, I misvah you. 9 - and Yah Shua sends them: and they go to lurk and settle between Beth El and Ay, seaward of Ay: and that night Yah Shua stays overnight among the people. 10 And Yah Shua starts early in the morning and musters the people and ascends - he and the elders of Yisra El at the face of the people to Ay: 11 and all the people of war ascend with him and draw near and come in front of the city and encamp on the north of Ay: and a valley is between them and Ay. 12 And he takes about five thousand men and sets them to lurk between Beth El and Ay seaward of the city: 13 and they set the people - all the camp north of the city, and their heel trippers seaward of the city, and Yah Shua goes that night midst the valley. 14 And so be it, when the sovereign of Ay sees, they hasten and start early and the men of the city go out to meet Yisra El to war - he and all his people, at a season, at the face of the plain; but he knows not there are lurkers against him behind the city. 15 And Yah Shua and all Yisra El are as touched at their face; and flee by the way of the wilderness: 16 and all the people in Ay cry out to pursue them: and they pursue Yah Shua and tear away from the city. 17 not a man survives in Ay or Beth El, who goes not after Yisra El: they leave the city open and pursue after Yisra El. 18 And Yah Veh says to Yah Shua, Spread the dart in your hand toward Ay; for I give it into your hand. - and Yah Shua spreads the dart in his hand toward Ay. 19 And the lurkers rise quickly from their place, and run as soon as he spreads his hand: and they enter the city and capture it; and hasten and burn the city with fire: 20 and when the men of Ay face behind them, they see, and behold, the smoke of the city ascends to the heavens, and they have no hand to flee - here or there: and the people fleeing to the wilderness turn back against the pursuers. 21 And Yah Shua and all Yisra El see the lurkers capture the city and the smoke of the city ascending, they turn back and smite the men of Ay: 22 and the others come from the city to meet them; thus they are midst Yisra El - these on this side and those on that side: and they smite them, so that no escapee survives. 23 And they apprehend the sovereign of Ay alive, and approach him to Yah Shua. 24 And so be it, Yisra El finishes slaughtering all the settlers of Ay in the field - in the wilderness where they pursue them; - they all fall on the mouth of the sword; until they are consumed: and all the Yisra Eliy return to Ay and smite it with the mouth of the sword. 25 And so be it, all who fall that day, both of men and women, are twelve thousand, all the men of Ay. 26 For Yah Shua turned not back his hand wherewith he spread the spear, until he devoted all the settlers of Ay: 27 only, the animals and the spoil of that city Yisra El plundered to themselves, according to the word Yah Veh misvahed Yah Shua. 28 And Yah Shua burns Ay, and sets it a heap for eternity - a desolation to this day: 29 and he hangs the sovereign of Ay on a tree until evening time: and as soon as the sun is down, Yah Shua misvahs them to bring his carcase down from the tree and cast it at the opening of the portal of the city; and raises thereon a great heap of stones, to this day. 30
THE ALTAR OF YAH SHUA TO YAH VEH Yah Shua builds a sacrifice altar to Yah Veh Elohim of Yisra El in mount Ebal, 31 as Mosheh the servant of Yah Veh misvahed the sons of Yisra El - as inscribed in the scroll of the torah of Mosheh - a sacrifice altar of complete stones over which no man ever waved an iron: and they holocaust holocausts to Yah Veh thereon, and sacrifice shelamim: 32 and there on the stones he inscribes a duplicate of the torah of Mosheh which he inscribes in the face of the sons of Yisra El. 33 And all Yisra El and their elders and officers and their judges stand on this side the ark and on that side in front of the priests the Leviym, who bear the ark of the covenant of Yah Veh - as the sojourner, as the native; half of them toward mount Gerizim and half of them toward mount Ebal; as Mosheh the servant of Yah Veh first misvahed, to bless the people of Yisra El. 34 And afterward he calls out all the words of the torah - the blessings and abasements according to all inscribed in the scroll of the torah: 35 not a word, of all Mosheh misvahed, is not called out by Yah Shua in front of all the congregation of Yisra El - with the women, and the toddlers, and the sojourners walking among them.
