CLV⁽ⁱ⁾ ²² saying that "The Son of Mankind must be suffering much, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be roused." ²³ Now He said to all, "If anyone is wanting to come after Me, let him disown himself and pick up his cross daily and follow Me." ²⁴ For whosoever may be wanting to save his soul, shall be destroying it, yet whoever should be destroying his soul on My account, he shall be saving it." ²⁵ For what does a man benefit, gaining the whole world, yet destroying or forfeiting himself? ²⁶ For whoever may be ashamed of Me and of My words, of this one the Son of Mankind shall be ashamed, whenever He may be coming in the glory of Him and of the Father and of the holy messengers." ²⁷ Now I am saying to you, truly there are some of those standing here who under no circumstances should be tasting death till they should be perceiving the kingdom of God."
