And he rose early in the morning and built an altar below the mountain and twelve stone monuments for the twelve tribes of Israel. ⁵ Then he sent youths of the sons of Israel, and the brought up ascent offerings and sacrificed young bulls as sacrifices of peace offerings to Yahweh. ⁶ Moses took half of the blood and put it in goblets, and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. ⁷ And he took the scroll of the covenant and read it in the ears of the people; so they said: All that Yahweh has spoken we shall do and hearken to. ⁸ Now Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people and said: Behold the blood of the covenant which Yahweh contracts with you concerning all these matters.
