John 19:7-12 The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and according to the law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God.”

BLB⁽ⁱ⁾ ⁷ The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and according to the law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God.” ⁸ Therefore when Pilate heard this word, he was even more afraid. ⁹ And he went into the Praetorium again, and he says to Jesus, “Where are You from?” But Jesus did not give him an answer. ¹⁰ Therefore Pilate says to Him, “Do You not speak to me? Do You not know that I have authority to release You, and I have authority to crucify You?” ¹¹ Jesus answered him, “You would have no authority over Me, if it were not given to you from above. Because of this, the one having delivered Me up to you has greater sin.” ¹² Out of this, Pilate was seeking to release Him; but the Jews cried out, saying, “If you release this man, you are not a friend of Caesar. Everyone making himself a king speaks against Caesar.”
