BLB⁽ⁱ⁾ ⁷ Little children, let no one lead you astray; the one practicing righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. ⁸ The one practicing sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. For this reason the Son of God was revealed, so that He might destroy the works of the devil. ⁹ Anyone having been born of God does not practice sin, because His seed abides in him, and he is not able to continue sinning, because he has been born of God. ¹⁰ Through this, the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: anyone not practicing righteousness is not of God, and also the one not loving his brother.
