2. oath of ׳י, in promise, Deut 7:8 (שָׁמַר in rel. clause), || covenant (בְּרִית), שְׁבוּעַתוֺ לְיִצְחָק Ps 105:9 = 1Chr 16:16. — שְׁבֻעוֺת מַטּוֺת Hab 3:9 very dubious: AV oaths of the tribes; oaths, rods of the word, Hi-St; sworn (passive participle שְׁבַע) were the rods ( = chastisements) of (thy) word, Ges Hi RVm; heptads of spears Ew, compare Da; text probably corrupt, Now proposes שִׂבַּעְתָּ (אַשְׁפָּֽתְךָׅ thou hast sated with shafts thy quiver; Marti (after ᵐ5^Manuscripts) thy bow was satiated with shafts; GASm thou gluttest (?) thy shafts. — Ezek 21:28 see √.
