[פָּרַס, erroneous פָּרַשׂ ZA i, 417] verb break in two, divide (Late Hebrew in derived forms; Assyrian parâsu, divide, hinder; Arabic break neck, etc.; Syriac hoof, ᵑ7 פַּרְסְחָא (see פַּרְסָה below); compare ZA i.417 f.); —

Qal Perfect 3 plural וּפָֽרְשׂוּ Mic 3:3 they have broken up bones, as in kettle (? read Imperfect וַיִפְרְשׂוּ i.c.); Infinitive abs. פָּרֹס לָרָעֵב לַחְמֶ֑ךָ Isa 58:7 a breaking for the hungry thy bread, so Imperfect 3 masculine plural יִפְרְסוּ לָהֶם Jer 16:7 (לֶחֶם omitted; but read לֶחֶם אֶלאָֿבֵל ׳יִפ Gie, compare [in part] ᵐ5 Valgate Gf); Participle פֹרֵשׂ לֶהֶם Lam 4:4 (accusative לֶחֶם omitted). Hiph`il Perfect 3 feminine singular הִפְרִיסָה Lev 11:6, etc.; Imperfect 3 masculine singular יַפְרִיס vLev 11:5 Participle מַפְרִיס vLev 11:4 +, מַפְרֶסֶת vLev 11:3 +, etc.; —
1. with accusative פַּרְסָה divide hoof, i.e. have divided hoof (> denominative have hoofs, Deut 14:6; Deut 14:7; Deut 14:8 and || Lev 11:3; Lev 11:4; Lev 11:5; Lev 11:6; Lev 11:7, so also Lev 11:26 מַפְרִיסֵי ׳הַפ Deut 14:7 = ׳מַפְרִסֵי הַפ Lev 11:4 (H).
2. participle absolute denominative Ps 69:32 having hoofs (+ מַקְרִן).
