Qal Imperfect 3 masculine singular יֵחַת Jer 21:13 3 feminine singular תֵּ֫חַת Prov 17:10, וַתִּנְחַת Ps 38:3 3 masculine plural יֵחַ֑תּוּ Job 21:13 (forms יֵחַת, יֵחַתּוּ see also חתת); —
1. go down, descend, to attack Jer 21:13 into Sh®°ôl Job 21:13.
2. figurative descend in chastisement Ps 38:3 (hand of ׳י; || Niph`al see below); followed by בְּ descend into i.e. make impression on, Prov 17:10 (of reproof). Niph`al Perfect 3 masculine plural נִחֲתוּ followed by בְּ = penetrate Ps 38:3, (of arrows of ׳י). Pi`el Perfect 3 masculine singular consecutive וְנִחַת 2Sam 22:35 (see Ges«GKC:145»§ 145. 7); = 3 feminine singular וְנִחֲתָה Ps 18:35 Infinitive absolute נַחֵת Ps 65:11cause to descend = press down, according to most, in קֶשֶׁת נְחוּשָׁה זְדֹעֹתָ֑י ׳וְנ 2Sam 22:35 = Ps 18:35 so that my arms press down, stretch, a bow of bronze, but dubious; Bu conjecture Hiph`il יַנְחִת; HPS וַיָּ֫שֶׁת and makes my arms a bow of bronze; of pressing down, smoothing out, furrows of land Ps 65:11. Hiph`il Imperative הַנְחַת Joel 4:11 thither bring down thy heroes, ׳י! (on form compare Ges«GKC:64»§ 64 R. 3 i. 314 f.).
