1. deliverance, usually by God, through human agency, especially from oppression 1Sam 11:9, and in battle 1Chr 19:12 (הוֺשׁיע in || clause), = victory Judg 15:18 (׳בְּיַד וגו ׳נָתַתָּ ת), 2Kgs 5:1, ׳י ׳עשׂה ת 1Sam 11:13 ׳י wrought a great victory, so 1Sam 19:5; 2Sam 19:3; 2Sam 23:10; 2Sam 23:12; 2Sam 1:14 (as accusative of congnate meaning with verb after הושׁיע), Prov 21:31; Ps 33:17 (נושׁע in || vPs 33:16); למלכים ׳הַנּוֺתֵן ת Ps 144:10 so in phrase ליהוה ׳חֵץתֿ 2Kgs 13:17, בַּאֲרָם ׳חֵץתֿ v2Kgs 13:17 of national deliverance, from exile, עולמים ׳נוֺשַׁע יִשְׂרָאֵל ת Isa 45:17 (DaSynt.:§ 67 b), Isa 46:13 (|| צְדָקָה), vIsa 46:13 (with נתן; || תִּפְאֶרֶת); in general of national success and prosperity Jer 3:23; Prov 11:14 = Prov 24:6 of deliverance from personal trouble Ps 37:39; Lam 3:26 (׳תְּשׁוּעַת י) or of national deliverance under figure of personal Ps 40:11 (|| אֱמוּנָָֽתְךָ), vPs 40:17; Ps 71:15 (|| צְדָקָח), so תְּשׁוּעָתִי ׳י Ps 38:23 contrasted with ׳י's deliverance is תְּשׁוּעַת אָדָם deliverance of (through) man Ps 60:13 = Ps 108:13, compare Ps 146:3.
2. more exclusively spiritual in sense, = salvation, appear to be אֱלֹהֵי תְשׁוּעָתִי Ps 51:16; Ps 119:41 (|| חֲסָדֶךָ), vPs 51:81, and ׳כֹּהֲנֶיךָ יִלְבְּשׁוּ ת 2Chr 6:41 (from כהניה אלברשׁ יֵשַׁע Ps 132:16).
