I. יָשֵׁן adjective sleeping; — masculine singular יָשֵׁן 1Sam 26:7 + 3 t., feminine singular יֲשֵׁנֵה 1Kgs 3:20; Song 52 plural יְשֵׁנִים 1Sam 26:12; Song 7:10 construct יֲשֵׁנֵי Dan 12:2 — asleep, sleeping 1Sam 26:7; 1Sam 26:12; 1Kgs 3:20; Song 5:2; Song 7:10 so, figurative, Hos 7:6, explained as = יֶעְשַׁן smoketh, compare Deut 29:19, by RS^{J Phil. xvi. 1888, 72; Proph. iv. n. 19} Che with אַפְּהֶם (Ges^{«GKC:1»§ 1}. R. 1 a) for אֹפֵהֶם; but < We, their anger sleepeth; of Baal 1Kgs 18:27 in simile of ׳י Ps 78:65 of dead, as sleeping in dust, Dan 12:2.
