חַנּוּן adjective gracious, only used as an attribute of God, as hearing the cry of the vexed debtor Exod 22:26 (covenant code), || מְרַחֵם Ps 116:5 elsewhere in the earlier phrase רַחוּם וְחַנּוּן Exod 34:6 (JE) = Ps 86:15; Ps 103:8, or the later חַנּוּן וְרַחוּם 2Chr 30:9; Neh 9:17; Neh 9:31; Ps 111:4; Ps 112:4; Ps 145:8; Joel 2:13; Jonah 4:2.
