2. the act of general, public, praise (compare also above especially Ps 22:4; Ps 33:1; Ps 106:12; Neh 12:46); — בּאֹוּ שְׁעָרָיו בְּתוֺדָה ׳חֲצֵרֹתָיו בִּת Ps 100:4 enter his gates with thanksgiving, his courts with praise; שִׁיר חָדָשׁ ׳שִׁירוּ לי תְּהִלָּתוֺ בִּקְהִל חֲסִידִים Plalm Ps 149:1 compare Ps 22:26; Ps 65:2; Ps 66:2; Ps 147:1 before the army הֵחֵלּוּ בְרִנָּה וּתְחִלָּה 2Chr 20:22 in exhortation to the peoples הַשְׁמִיעוּ קוֺל תְּהִלָּתוֺ Ps 66:8 (|| בָּֽרֲכוּ עַמִּים אֱלֹהֵינוּ), compare Isa 42:12.

3. praise-song, as title, תְּהִלָּה לְדָוִד Ps 145:1 (so Late Hebrew ספר תהלות & תְּהִלִּים, תִּילִּים, = Psalms).

4. qualities, deeds, etc., of ׳י, demanding praise: — נוֺרָא תְהִלֹּת Exod 15:11 (song), i.e. terrible in attributes that call for praise (|| נֶאְדָּר בַּקֹּדֶשׁ & עשֵֹׁה פֶלֶא); often (both singular and plural) of Yahweh's deeds with verb סִפֵּר Ps 9:15; Ps 78:4; Ps 79:13; Isa 43:21, also + ׳שֵׁם י Ps 102:22 with יַשְׁמִיעַ Ps 106:2 (|| ׳יְמַלֵּל גְּבוּרוֺת י); + צִדְקֶ֑ךָ with יֶהְגֶּה Ps 35:28 with יְבַשֵּׂ֑רוּ Isa 60:6 + ׳חַסְדֵי י, with אַזְכִּיר Isa 63:7 vid also לְהֹדוֺת לְשֵׁם קָדְשֶׁ֑ךָ לְהִשְׁתַּבֵחַ בִּתְהִלָּתֶ֑ךָ Ps 106:47 = 1Chr 16:35 to give thanks unto thy holy name, to glory in thy praises (= praiseworthy deeds).

5. renown, fame, glory:
