⁴¹ Then shall the kinge saye vnto them that shalbe on the lyfte hande. Departe from me ye cursed, into euerlastinge fyre, which is prepared for the deuyll and hys angels.

³¹ And the Lorde sayde: Simon Simon beholde, Sathan hath desyred you, to syfte you, as it were wheate, ³² but I haue prayed for the, that thy faith fayle not. And when thou arte conuerted, strengthe thy brethren.

¹³ Let no man saye when he is tempted, that he is tempted of God. For god tempteth not vnto euyl, neyther tempteth he any man: ¹⁴ But euerye man is tempted, drawne awaye, & entysed of hys owne concupiscence. ¹⁵ Then when luste hath conceyued, she bringeth forth sinne, & sinne when it is fynyshed bryngeth forthe death.

⁹ And the great dragon, that olde serpente called the deuyll and Sathanas was caste out. Whiche deceyueth al the worlde. And he was cast into the earth, and his angelles were cast out also.

¹⁰ The thefe cometh not, but for to steale, kyll, and destroye. I am come, that they might haue lyfe, and haue it more aboundauntlye.

¹³ There hath none other temptacion taken you, but suche as foloweth the nature of man. But God is faythful whiche shall not suffre you to be tempted aboue your strength: but shall in the middest of the temptacion make a waye to escape out.

¹⁰ & the deuyll that deceyued them, was caste into a lake of fyre and brymstone, where the beast and the false Prophet were & shalbe tormented daye and nyghte for euermore.

⁴⁴ Ye are of youre father the deuyl, and the lustes of your father ye wyll do. He was a murtherer from the begynnyng, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truthe in hym. When he speaketh a lye, then speaketh he of hys owne. For he is a lyar, and the father therof.

⁴ in whome the God of thys worlde hath blynded the myndes of them which beleue not, leste the lyght of the gloryous gospell of Christe which is the ymage of God shoulde shyne vnto them.

¹¹ Put on the armoure of God, that ye maye stande stedfaste agaynste the crafty assautes of the deuyll. ¹² For we wrestle not againste fleshe and bloude: but against rule, agaynst power, and againste worldlye rulers of the darckenes of thys worlde, againste spyrytuall wickednes, for heauenly thynges.

¹⁴ And no maruail for Satan hym selfe is chaunged into the fashyon of an angell of lyghte.

⁷ Submytte your selues to God, and resiste the deuyl, and he wyll flye from you.

¹⁸ We knowe that whosoeuer is borne of God, synneth not, but he that is begotten of God kepeth him selfe, and that wycked toucheth him not. ¹⁹ We knowe that we are of God, and that the world is altogether set on wyckednes.

⁴ Whosoeuer committeth synne, committeth vnrightuousnes also, for synne is vnrightuousnes. ⁵ And ye knowe that he appered to take awaye oure synnes, & in him is no sinne. ⁶ As many as byde in him synne not, whosoeuer synneth, hath not sene him, neyther hath knowen him. ⁷ Babes let no man deceiue you. He that doth rightuousnes is rightuous, euen as he is righteous. ⁸ He that committeth sinne, is of the deuil, for the deuil sinneth sence the beginninge. For this purpose appered the sonne of God to lowse the workes of the deuil. ⁹ Whosoeuer is borne of God, sinneth not, for hys seed remaineth in him, and he can not sinne, because he is borne of God. ¹⁰ In this are the chyldren of God knowen, and the chyldren of the deuil. Whosoeuer doth not rightuousnes, is not of God, neyther he that loueth not his brother.

⁸ Be sober and watch, for your aduersary the deuyll as a roringe Lyon walketh aboute, sekinge whom he may deuour,
