¹ Wherfore, seyng that we are compassed with so great a cloude of witnesses, lay away all that presseth downe, & the sinne that hangeth so fast on, let vs run with patience vnto the battayle that is set before vs

⁷ I haue fought a good fyght, I haue fulfylled [my] course, I haue kept ye faith ⁸ Hencefoorth there is layde vp for me a crowne of ryghteousnesse, which the Lorde, the ryghteous iudge, shall geue me at that day: not to me only, but vnto the also yt haue loued his appearyng

² Let another man prayse thee, and not thyne owne mouth, yea other folkes, and not thyne owne lippes

¹³ The feare of the Lorde abhorreth wickednes, pryde, disdayne, and the euil way, and a mouth that speaketh wicked thinges I vtterly abhorre

⁸ But nowe put ye of also all, wrath, fiercenesse, maliciousnesse, blasphemie, filthie comunication out of your mouth

²⁵ Euery man that proueth maisteries, abstayneth from all thynges, and they [do it] to obtayne a crowne that shall perishe: but we to obtayne an euerlasting crowne

²⁴ Perceaue ye not [howe] that they which run in a race, run all, but one receaueth the rewarde? So run that ye may obtayne

¹³ I can do all thynges through Christe, which strengtheneth me

¹⁴ And I prease towarde the marke, for the price of the hye callyng of God in Christe Iesus

²⁴ And Iacob was left hym selfe alone: and there wrasteled a man with hym, vnto the breakyng of the day ²⁵ And when he sawe that he coulde not preuayle agaynst hym, he smote hym vpon the hucklebone of his thigh, and the hucklebone of Iacobs thigh loosed out of ioynt as he wrastled with him ²⁶ And he said: let me go, for the day breaketh. Whiche aunswered: I will not let thee go, except thou blesse me ²⁷ And he sayde vnto hym: what is thy name? He aunswered: Iacob ²⁸ He sayde: thy name shalbe called no more Iacob, but Israel: For as a prince hast thou wrasteled with God, and with men, and hast preuayled ²⁹ And Iacob asked him, saying: tell me thy name. And he sayde: wherefore doest thou aske after my name? And he blessed hym there ³⁰ And Iacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I haue seene God face to face, and my life is preserued

¹² All thinges are lawfull vnto me, but al thinges are not profitable: Al things are lawfull vnto me, but I will not be brought vnder the power of any

⁸ For bodyly exercise profiteth litle: but godlinesse is profitable vnto all thinges, hauing promise of the lyfe that is nowe, and of that which is to come

³¹ Whether therfore ye eate or drynke, or whatsoeuer ye do, do all to the prayse of God

⁵ And if a man also wrestle, yet is he not crowned except he wrestle lawfullie
