⁴ And he answering said to them: Have ye not read, that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female, ⁵ and said: For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh. ⁶ So that they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God joined together, let not man put asunder.

¹⁸ Every one who puts away his wife, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries her when put away from a husband commits adultery.

² For the married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives; but if the husband die, she is loosed from the law of the husband.

¹⁸ Flee fornication. Every sin that a man commits is without the body; but he that commits fornication, sins against his own body.

²⁸ But I say to you, that every one who looks on a woman, to lust after her, has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

³¹ And it was said: Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement. ³² But I say to you, that whoever shall put away his wife, save for the cause of fornication, makes her commit adultery; and whoever shall marry her when put away, commits adultery.

⁴ Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
