⁹ Now if we admit the testimony of men, sure the testimony of God is greater: and this is the testimony of God, which He hath testified concerning his Son.

¹⁶ Then he permitted Him. And Jesus as soon as He was baptized came up from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened unto Him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and coming upon Him: ¹⁷ and lo, a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

⁵ And as he was speaking, lo a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him.

³² but He that cometh from heaven, is above all: and what He hath seen and heard, this He testifieth: and yet scarce any one receiveth his testimony. ³³ He that hath received his testimony, hath set his seal to this, that God is true:

³¹ If I alone bear witness of my self, my testimony is not true in law: ³² but there is another who testifieth concerning me; and I know that the testimony, which he giveth concerning me, is true. ³³ Ye your selves sent unto John, and he bore witness to the truth: ³⁴ though I need not testimony from man; but I say these things that ye may be saved. ³⁵ He was indeed a burning and shining light, and for a while ye willingly rejoiced in his light. ³⁶ But I have a testimony greater than John's: for the works which the Father hath given me to perform, the very works which I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. ³⁷ And the Father who sent me, hath Himself borne witness of me: and yet ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.

³⁹ Ye search the scriptures; for ye think that in them ye have eternal life:

¹⁷ And it is written in your own law, that the testimony of two persons is valid. ¹⁸ Now I am one, who bear witness of myself; and the Father, who sent me, beareth witness of me. ¹⁹ Then said they unto Him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye would have known my Father also.

³⁸ But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in Him.

³² and we are his witnesses of what we declare; and so is the holy Spirit, whom God hath given to them that obey Him.

³¹ Because He hath fixed a day, in which He will judge the world in righteousness, by that man whom He hath appointed thereto; having given assurance of it to all men, by raising Him from the dead.

⁴ God also testifying together with them by signs, and wonders, and divers miracles, and gifts of the holy Spirit, according to his own will.

¹⁸ that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to fail, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us;

¹⁰ He, that believeth on the Son of God, hath the witness in himself: he, that believeth not God, hath in effect made Him a liar, because he believed not the testimony which God hath testified of his Son.
