⁴⁶ "And why do you all call me 'Master, Master' and yet not do what I tell you?

²⁵ As soon as the Master of the house shall have risen and shut the door, and you have begun to stand outside and knock at the door and say, "'Sir, open the door for us' --"'I do not know you,' He answers; 'you are no friends of mine.' ²⁶ "Then you will plead, "'We have eaten and drunk in your company and you have taught in our streets.' ²⁷ "But He will reply, "'I tell you that you are no friends of mine. Begone from me, all of you, wrongdoers that you are.'

¹³ You call me 'The Rabbi' and 'The Master,' and rightly so, for such I am. ¹⁴ If I then, your Master and Rabbi, have washed your feet, it is also your duty to wash one another's feet. ¹⁵ For I have set you an example in order that you may do what I have done to you. ¹⁶ In most solemn truth I tell you that a servant is not superior to his master, nor is a messenger superior to him who sent him. ¹⁷ If you know all this, blessed are you if you act accordingly.

⁷ Do not deceive yourselves. God is not to be scoffed at. For whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
