¹⁸ So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

²⁴ For in this hope we were saved; but hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he can already see? ²⁵ But if we hope for what we do not yet see, we wait for it patiently.

⁷ We walk by faith, not by sight.

¹⁶ May our Lord Jesus, the Messiah himself, and may God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and good hope,

¹ Now faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the certainty of what we do not see.

¹³ All these people died in faith, without having received the things they were promised. However, they saw them and welcomed them from afar. And they acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.

²⁵ He chose to share the bad treatment with the people of God, rather than enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. ²⁶ He thought that being insulted for the sake of the Messiah was of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. ²⁷ By faith Moses left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw Him who is invisible.

² Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ³ Consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

¹⁶ For the things in the world--the cravings of the earthly nature, the cravings of the eyes, the show and pride of life--they all come, not from the Father, but from the world. ¹⁷ The world and its desires (lusts) are passing away; but he who does the will of God lives forever.

²⁵ And this is what he has promised useternal life.
