⁵ Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon gathered together. They and all their hosts came before Gibeon and camped. Then they made war against it.

²⁹ »The Amalekites live in the Negev. The Hittites, Jebusites, and Amorites live in the mountain region. The Canaanites live along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and all along the Jordan River.«

¹ All the kings west of Jordan heard these things; the kings in the hills, and in the valleys, in all the coasts of the Great (Mediterraean) Sea over against Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite heard these things. ² They gathered themselves together, to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord (unanimously) (one purpose).

⁶ The men of Gibeon sent word to Joshua to the camp at Gilgal saying: Do not abandon your servants. Come to us quickly and save us. Help us for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains have gathered together against us.

⁹ Be broken, you people. Be terrified. Listen all you distant parts of the earth. Prepare for battle and be terrified. Prepare for battle and be terrified! ¹⁰ Make plans for battle, but they will never succeed. Give orders, but they will not be carried out, because God is with us!
