¹⁵ Naaman returned to Elisha with all his men and said: »Now I realize there is no god but the God of Israel. Please accept a gift from me.« ¹⁶ Elisha the prophet answered: »By the living God Jehovah whom I serve, I swear that I will not accept a gift.« Naaman insisted that he accept it, but he would not.

²⁶ Elisha said: »Was I there in spirit when the man got out of his chariot to meet you? This is no time to accept money and clothes, olive groves and vineyards, sheep and cattle, or servants! ²⁷ »Naaman's leprosy will come upon you. You and your descendants will have it from generation to generation!« When Gehazi left, he had the disease. His skin was as white as snow.

²⁶ The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to Jehovah. The words of the pure are pleasant words.

¹ Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the water. You, who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

¹⁷ Daniel answered the king: »Keep your gifts and give your rewards to another. I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

³ Judas, his betrayer, heard he was to be put to death. Out of regret, he took the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and those in authority. ⁴ He said: »I have done wrong in giving a righteous man to you.« ⁵ He left the silver in the Temple. Then he went away and hanged himself.

¹⁹ »Evil thoughts come from the heart! Thoughts about murder, adultery, fornication, theft, lying, and slander come from the heart!

³⁸ Then Peter said: »Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

²² »Repent of this wickedness, and pray to God, that the thought in your heart may be forgiven you.

⁴⁵ Those circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of Holy Spirit was also poured out on the people of the nations.

¹⁷ »Since God gave them the same gift as he gave to us who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could oppose God?«

⁹ Those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and hurtful lusts. These draw men into ruin and destruction.

³ Your gold and your silver are rusted. Their corrosion will be for a testimony against you, and will eat your flesh like fire. You stored up your treasure in the last days.

¹⁴ They have eyes full of adultery that cannot cease from sin! They entice unsteady persons. Their hearts are full of covetousness. They are children of cursing. ¹⁵ They went astray, forsaking the right way. They followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved the wages of wrongdoing. ¹⁶ He was rebuked for his own transgression. A beast of burden spoke with a man's voice and restrained (hindered) the madness of the prophet. ¹⁷ These are springs without water, and mists driven by a storm, for whom the gloom of darkness has been reserved.

¹⁵ »The merchants of these things, who were made rich by her, will stand far off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing.
