¹² Therefore whatever you desire for people to do to you, so also you should do to them; for this is the Law and the Prophets.

⁷ and has not wronged any, but has restored to the debtor his pledge, has taken nothing by robbery, has given his bread to the hungry, and has covered the naked with a garment; ⁸ he who has not given forth on interest, neither has taken any increase, who has withdrawn his hand from iniquity, has executed true justice between man and man,

²¹ "But if the wicked turn from all his sins that he has committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

¹⁴ Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so the LORD, the God of hosts, will be with you, as you say. ¹⁵ Hate evil, love good, and establish justice in the courts. It may be that the LORD, the God of hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph."

⁸ He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does the LORD require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

⁷ Aren't these the words which the LORD proclaimed by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and its cities around her, and the Negev and the lowland were inhabited?'" ⁸ The word of the LORD came to Zechariah, saying, ⁹ "Thus has the LORD of hosts spoken, saying, 'Execute true judgment, and show kindness and compassion every man to his brother. ¹⁰ Do not oppress the widow, nor the fatherless, the foreigner, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.'

¹⁶ These are the things that you shall do: speak every man the truth with his neighbor. Execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates, ¹⁷ and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor, and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate," says the LORD.

⁵ I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against the perjurers, and against those who oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and who deprive the foreigner of justice, and do not fear me," says the LORD of hosts.

³⁹ A second likewise is this, 'You are to love your neighbor as yourself.' ⁴⁰ The whole Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments."

²⁹ Jesus answered, "The first is, 'Hear, Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. ³⁰ And you are to love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' ³¹ The second is this, 'You are to love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." ³² The scribe said to him, "Truly, Teacher, you have said well that he is one, and there is none other but he, ³³ and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more important than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices." ³⁴ When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the Kingdom of God." No one dared ask him any question after that.

³¹ And as you would like people to do to you, you also do the same to them.

⁸ Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. ⁹ For the commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not give false testimony," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You are to love your neighbor as yourself." ¹⁰ Love does not harm a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the law.

¹³ For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only do not use your freedom for gain to the flesh, but through love be servants to one another. ¹⁴ For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this: "You are to love your neighbor as yourself."

⁵ but the goal of this command is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience and unfeigned faith;

¹⁰ For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. ¹¹ For he who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not commit murder." Now if you do not commit adultery, but murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. ¹² So speak, and so do, as those who are to be judged by a law of freedom. ¹³ For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
