²³ When he had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, "By what authority do you do these things? Who gave you this authority?"

¹⁴ But he said to him, "Man, who made me a judge or an arbitrator over you?"

³⁶ Jesus answered, "My Kingdom is not of this world. If my Kingdom were of this world, then my servants would fight, that I would not be delivered to the Jewish leaders. But now my Kingdom is not from here." ³⁷ Pilate therefore said to him, "Are you a king then?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice."

¹² At this, Pilate was seeking to release him, but the Jewish leaders shouted, saying, "If you release this man, you are not Caesar's friend. Everyone who makes himself a king speaks against Caesar." ¹³ When Pilate therefore heard these words, he brought Jesus out, and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called "The Pavement," but in Hebrew, "Gabbatha." ¹⁴ Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, at about noon. He said to the Jewish leaders, "Look, here is your King." ¹⁵ They shouted, "Away with him. Away with him. Crucify him." Pilate said to them, "Should I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar."

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up, and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had determined to release him. ¹⁴ But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a man who was a murderer to be granted to you, ¹⁵ and killed the Originator of life, whom God raised from the dead, to which we are witnesses.

⁷ When they had stood them in the middle of them, they inquired, "By what power, or in what name, have you done this?"

¹¹ This one is the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner. ¹² And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among people by which we must be saved."
