⁷ Jehovah also shall save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the people of Jerusalem may not be magnified above Judah.

⁵ If indeed you magnify yourself against me, and plead against me my misery,

²⁶ Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor together, those who magnify themselves over me.

¹⁶ For I said, Hear me, lest they rejoice over me; when my foot slips, they magnify themselves against me.

¹² For it is not an enemy who reviled me; then I could have borne it; it is not one who hates me who magnified himself against me; or I would hide myself from him;

¹¹ The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the pride of men shall be bowed down, and Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day. ¹² For the day of Jehovah of Hosts shall be on every proud and lofty one, and on every lifted up one; and he shall be brought low, ¹³ And it shall be on all the high and lifted up cedars of Lebanon, and on all the oaks of Bashan, ¹⁴ and on all the high mountains, and on all the lifted up hills; ¹⁵ and on every high tower, and on every fortified wall; ¹⁶ and on all the ships of Tarshish, and on all pleasurable craft. ¹⁷ And the pride of man shall be bowed down, and the loftiness of men shall be made low; and Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.

⁹ Jehovah of Hosts has purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory and to bring into contempt all the weighty of the earth.

²³ So says Jehovah, Do not let the wise glory in his wisdom, nor let the mighty glory in his might; do not let the rich glory in his riches; ²⁴ but let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am Jehovah, doing kindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth; for in these I delight, says Jehovah.

¹⁸ So says Jehovah: Behold, I will bring again the captivity of Jacob's tents, and will have mercy on his dwelling places. And the city shall be built on her own hill, and the palace shall remain in its own place.

¹¹ In that day I will raise up the booth of David that has fallen, and close up its breaks; and I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old;

⁶ Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, This is the Word of Jehovah to Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says Jehovah of Hosts.

¹¹ And it was broken in that day; and so the poor of the flock who were watching Me knew that it was the Word of Jehovah.

²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank You, O Father, Lord of Heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the sophisticated and cunning, and revealed them to babes. ²⁶ Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.

⁵¹ He has worked power with His arm, He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their heart. ⁵² He has put down rulers from their seats and exalted the lowly, ⁵³ He has filled the hungry with good things, and He has sent away the rich empty.

²¹ In that hour Jesus rejoiced in Spirit and said, I thank You, Father, Lord of Heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the sophisticated and cunning, and have revealed them to babes. Yes, Father, for so it was pleasing before You.

⁴⁷ Then the Pharisees answered them, Also, have you not been deceived? ⁴⁸ Is it not true that not any of the rulers or of the Pharisees have believed into him? ⁴⁹ But this crowd, not knowing the Law, is cursed.

²⁷ Then where is the boasting? It is excluded. Through what law? Of works? No, but through the law of faith.

²⁶ For you see your calling, brothers, that not many wise men according to the flesh are called, not many mighty, not many noble. ²⁷ But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; ²⁸ and God has chosen the base things of the world, and things which are despised, and things which are not, in order to bring to nothing things that are; ²⁹ so that no flesh should glory in His presence. ³⁰ But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who of God is made to us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption; ³¹ so that, according as it is written, "He who glories, let him glory in the Lord."

⁷ But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us; ⁸ in every way having been troubled, but not having been hemmed in; having been perplexed, but not utterly at a loss; ⁹ having been persecuted, but not having been forsaken; having been thrown down, but not having been destroyed; ¹⁰ always bearing about the dying of the Lord Jesus in the body, so that the life of Jesus also might be revealed in our body. ¹¹ For we who live are always being delivered to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus might also be revealed in our body. ¹² So then death works in us, but life in you.

⁵ Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He has promised to those who love Him?

⁶ But He gives more grace. Therefore He says, God resists the proud, but He gives grace to the humble.
