¹⁴ You were an anointed guardian cherub, and I placed you on _⌊God's holy mountain_⌋;* you walked in the midst of stones of fire.

¹⁶ But for the sake of this I have caused you to stand—for the sake of showing you my strength and in order to proclaim my name in all the earth.

¹⁷ "And you will make an atonement cover of pure gold, two and a half cubits its length and a cubit and a half its width. ¹⁸ And you will make two cherubim of gold; you will make them of hammered work at the two ends of the atonement cover. ¹⁹ And make one cherub _⌊at one end_⌋* and one cherub _⌊at the other end_⌋* of the atonement cover; you will make the cherubim on its two ends. ²⁰ And the cherubim will be with outspread wings above, covering with their wings over the atonement cover _⌊and facing each other_⌋;* the faces of the cherubim will be toward the atonement cover.

²⁶ And you will anoint with it the tent of assembly and the ark of the testimony,

⁹ "And you will take the anointing oil, and you will anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it, and you will consecrate all of its equipment,* and it will be holy.

⁵ Do not lift up high your* horn. Do not speak with _⌊arrogant pride_⌋.'"* ⁶ For it is not from the east or the west and not from the south* that lifting up comes, ⁷ rather God is the judge; one he brings low, and another he lifts up.

⁶ I send him against a godless nation, and I command him against the people of my wrath, to capture spoil and to carry off plunder, and to make them* a trampling place, like the clay of the streets.

¹⁵ Does the ax boast against the one who cuts with it, or the saw magnify itself against the one who moves it to and fro? _⌊As if a rod should move the one who lifts it_⌋!* _⌊As if a staff should lift up that which is not wood_⌋!*

¹² How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of dawn! You are cut down to the ground, conqueror of nations! ¹³ And you yourself said in your heart,
'I will ascend to heaven; I will raise up my throne above the stars of God; and I will sit on the mountain of assembly on the summit of Zaphon;* ¹⁴ I will ascend to the high places of the clouds,* I will make myself like the Most High.' ¹⁵ But you are brought down to Sheol, to the depths of the pit.

²⁶ Have you not heard from _⌊a long time ago_⌋?* I have made it from days of primeval time, and I formed it. Now I have brought it about, and it is for fortified cities to collapse into heaps of destroyed stones. ²⁷ And their inhabitants are _⌊weak_⌋;* they are dismayed, and they are ashamed; they have become like plants* of the field, and like greens of grass, like grass on* the roofs and a cultivated field _⌊before_⌋* the standing grain.

⁴⁰ "For on _⌊my holy mountain_⌋,* on the mountain of the height of Israel," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh, "there all of the house of Israel will serve me, all of them,* in the land. I will take pleasure in them, and there I will accept your contributions and the best of your portions with all of your holy objects.

² "Son of man,* say to the leader of Tyre, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh:
"Because your heart was haughty, and you said, 'I am a god; I sit in the seat of the gods, I sit in the heart of the seas!' But* you are a human, not a god, and you gave your heart to be like the heart of a god.

¹³ You were in Eden, the garden of God, and every precious stone was your adornment: carnelian, topaz and moonstone,* turquoise, onyx and jasper, sapphire,* malachite and emerald. And gold was the craftsmanship of your settings and your mountings in you; on the day when you were created they were prepared.

¹⁶ In the abundance of your trading, they filled the midst of you with violence, and you sinned; and I cast you as a profane thing from the mountain of God, and I expelled you, the guardian* cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. ¹⁷ Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you ruined your wisdom because of your splendor. I threw you on the ground _⌊before_⌋* kings; I have exposed you _⌊for viewing_⌋.*

³⁷ You, O king, the king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power and the might and the glory, ³⁸ and also _⌊human beings wherever they dwell_⌋,* the animals of the field and the birds* of heaven*—he has given into your hand and made you ruler over all of them—you are the head of gold.

³⁵ And all the dwellers of the earth are regarded as nothing, and he does _⌊according to_⌋* his desire in the host of heaven and among the dwellers of earth, and there is not one who can hold back his hand, or _⌊ask him_⌋,* 'What are you doing?'

¹⁸ _⌊O king_⌋,* the Most High God gave the kingdom and the greatness and the glory and the majesty to Nebuchadnezzar your _⌊predecessor_⌋.* ¹⁹ And because of the greatness that he gave to him, all the peoples, the nations and languages trembled and feared before him; whomever he wanted he killed, and whomever he wanted he let live, and whomever he wanted he honored, and whomever he wanted he humbled. ²⁰ But _⌊when_⌋* his heart became arrogant and his spirit became hard so as to act proudly, he was deposed from the throne of his kingdom and the* glory _⌊was taken away from him_⌋.* ²¹ And he was driven away _⌊from human society_⌋* and his mind was made like the animals* and his dwelling was with the wild asses; and _⌊he was given_⌋* grass like oxen to eat, and with* the dew of heaven his body was bathed, until he acknowledged that the Most High God is sovereign over the kingdom of humankind, and _⌊whoever_⌋* he wants he sets over it. ²² "But you his _⌊successor_⌋,* Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart _⌊even though_⌋* you knew all this. ²³ And now you have exalted yourself against the Lord of heaven, and the vessels of his temple you have brought in before you, and you and your lords,* your wives and your concubines, have been drinking wine from* them, and you have praised the gods of silver, gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone* that do not see and do not hear and do not know, but the God _⌊who holds your life in his hand_⌋* and all of your ways _⌊come from him_⌋,* you have not honored.

⁵¹ (Now he did not say this from himself, but being high priest in that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation,

⁴ who opposes and who exalts himself over every so-called god or object of worship, so that he sits down in the temple of God, proclaiming that he himself is God.

¹⁷ And in this way I saw the horses in the vision, and those seated on them, who had fiery red and hyacinth-colored and sulphurous yellow breastplates, and the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire and smoke and sulphur.

"Woe, woe, the great city, dressed in fine linen and purple cloth and scarlet cloth, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls,
